George shuddered.
The image was just too horrifying.
There was no way he’d let that happen.
Maya looked speechless. “Your imagination is way too active.”
“I’m just giving an example.”
Toby leaned over, frowning as he tried to get a look at the kind of guy she liked.
Then he saw a man with a wide, flat face.
“You-”
“What about me?” Maya asked defensively.
She knew him too well. Whenever he started a sentence in that tone, nothing nice ever followed.

“Your taste has wandered very far from normal human standards, Maya.” His voice carried a sort of condescending pity.
“This is the first time I’ve learned that you actually have a thing for ugly guys.” He emphasized the last few words.
Maya shot back, “I don’t have ‘a thing‘ for ugly guys. It’s just my standard of beauty.
“It’s like how you prefer spending time with smart people.”
Toby neither agreed nor disagreed.
“I just like people who look honest. It gives you a different kind of security.
“Anyway…” Maya pouted, dusting the snow off her hands. “You guys wouldn’t understand.”
“I think,” Edric said gently, his voice calm and gentle. “No one will understand your taste for at least the next hundred years, Maya.”
Maya immediately kicked at him in protest, then trotted back over to the snowman to build it a new, giant head.
“When does Harmony International School start classes again?” George asked, putting his

phone away as he turned to more serious matters. “The school attack and Dad going in to save the day caused such a massive scene.
“A lot of students saw it. If those two go back, they’ll probably be ostracized by their classmates.”
“Ostracized is an understatement. They won’t have any friends left at all,” Toby said, brushing the remaining snow off himself. That massive snowball had hit him pretty hard, and the melted snow was seeping into his coat, leaving dark water stains.
“I heard they won’t open back up until April. They’ll reassign her to a new class by then. She didn’t have many friends anyway, so I can put the people she knows in the same class. As for the rest…”
He pondered for a moment. “Don’t sort them by family background anymore. Sort them by looks.”
In other words, Maya’s future class wouldn’t be based on family status or grades.
It would be based entirely on appearance.
Edric considered it for a moment. Then, surprisingly, he nodded seriously. “That works.”
Completely unaware that she was about to be transferred to a new class, Maya was busy patting
a giant snowball, getting ready to give her headless snowman a new head.
She smoothed the snowball with both hands until the edges became round and even.
After a while, she stepped back and tilted her head to inspect her work.
The new head was a size smaller than the original one, and its shape was pretty irregular, looking like a lumpy potato.
It was so ugly.
She absolutely loved it!
Delighted, Maya took off the white scarf around her neck and wrapped it around the snowman’s neck.
The snowman’s neck was a little too thick, so after one loop, it looked less like a scarf and more like the snowman was being strangled by it.
Wendy couldn’t help laughing.
Bending down, she pulled out a camera and snapped a few photos while casually asking, “Maya,

do you want to team up with me for the snowball fight?
“We’d definitely get first place.”
Everyone else suddenly felt a chill run down their spines.
They just stared.
A snowball fight with Mom…
She would probably slaughter us on the spot.
George silently took two steps back.
Toby pretended he hadn’t heard anything and lowered his head to look at his phone.
Alfred instinctively moved a little closer behind Maya.
Maya, on the other hand, looked excited. “Sure! Sounds great!”
“Great my ass,” Raymond’s voice came from the doorway. He quickly waved them inside. “It’s getting late. Let’s eat dinner.”
The last thing he wanted was to watch a wrecked yard and then spend the next day repairing broken windows and doors.
Extreme sports had no place in their household.
