Chapter 308 The Infamous Clarks

After learning abour Mayas complicated and miserable family background, the man’s tone softened a lot The sharp edge from before was gone. “You should be a good kid, he sad gently

“I hope you grow up to be a good person, not an assassin

As he spoke. Ernest tossed a pile of positive self-help books onto the table.

Maya looked down and flipped through them.

Then she fell into thought.

Is this guy crazy?

Why would an organization base keep books like these?

Did he have an entire bookshelf in his office dedicated to reforming troubled teenage assassins?

“I don’t want to read these,” Maya said, shoving the books aside. Then she pointed at her head. “I want to dye my hair. I want it green!”

Ernest ignored her.

He walked away, thinking the conversation was over.

Maya immediately frowned.

She still wanted to chat with him. After all, knowing your enemy was important.

What if this guy tried to set her up someday?

Ernest had underestimated her speed. Before he could react, Maya grabbed him and yanked him back. Then she slammed his head onto the desk.

“You brought me here,” she reminded him. “You promised I could dye my hair.”

Ernest froze.

After a long silence, he actually laughed.

“Are you crazy?” he asked sincerely.

Maya pushed his head down again, making it thump against the desk. “You’re the crazy one.”

Ernest’s head was buzzing.

At that moment, he realized something.

No one could deal with an assassin whose brain worked on a completely different wavelength.

This little menace wasn’t listening to a word he said. She only wanted green hair.

take you tomorrow. Let go of me

He gritted his teeth.

Maya still didn’t want to release him. She wanted to test him a little more. But But then, somerne arrived

An elderly man walked in.

Beside him stood the two friends she had met not long ago.

The old man frowned when he saw Maya pinning Ernest to the desk. He instinctively glanced at Ernest’s expression.

Then he looked at Maya.

“Let him go.” His voice carried unquestionable authority. “Who are you?”

Maya obediently released Ernest.

“Who are you?” she asked back, sounding righteously indignant like a child.

Lucy’s knees nearly gave out at this. She hurried over and wrapped an arm around Maya’s shoulders.

“Director, Maya’s still a minor. She doesn’t know any better. Please don’t be angry.”

Before the old man could speak, Ernest let out a mocking laugh.

“A minor doesn’t have skills like hers.”

He still had no idea how she had taken him down in one move.

“You let someone with an unknown background into this place?” the old man said coldly. “Lock her up right now.”

Ernest smiled strangely. “Wait. That’s not necessary. She really doesn’t know any better. I’ll educate her.” “Then keep her here for now.” The old man wasn’t upset at being contradicted. His expression never changed. He answered calmly, not giving them another glance and slowly walked away with someone’s help.

Just like that, he left.

For some reason, Maya felt something was very wrong.

Why did the leader of an organization seem to obey Ernest’s every word?

Why?

Is Ernest the old man’s son?

Chance lowered his voice. “You noticed it too, huh? We all think he’s the director’s kid. Otherwise, why would the director spoil him so much?”

1:57 pm

Maya didn’t think so.

Even if they were father and son, it shouldn’t look like this.

After the old man left, Chance and Lucy both let out huge sighs of relief.

Unlike them, Ernest still wore a smile as he questioned her. “Maya, you have a last name, right? What’s your last name?”
