Edric was speechles
That gentle smile at the corner of his mouth vanished completely.
The men around the table started exchanging glances.
“Are Mom and our sister coming back to eat?” Alfred asked out of nowhere.
Fashed
“Eat? Still?” George clamped a hand over his brother’s forehead, seizing the chance to bully him. “Our sister won’t stay put, and Mom’s gone too. It’s all your fault.”
They were now the textbook case of having lost both sister and mother.
“But, Alfred pointed out, “couldn’t we just head over there ourselves?”
If it won’t come to you, go to it.
Wasn’t that simple enough?
Toby was the only man of action there, and he stood up right there in front of everyone and walked over.
On the other side, Somalie had decided it was time to officially lay her cards on the table for Maya and the
others.
She didn’t think her friends knew her well enough.
They might know she was an heiress.
But did they have any idea how much weight her family carried in Aradune?
If two people wanted to forge a real bond, they had to put their chips on the table, and Somalie understood that principle through and through.
She was so used to being casual with Maya and Iris that she couldn’t act like a grand heiress again right away. So, she lifted her chin a little and spoke in a proud way, like a bird puffing out its feathers.
‘Maya, what if I told you who my father is?
‘I’ll tell you. My father is,” she said with great solemnity, “a super…”
“Ms. Fernando.”
Suddenly a voice cut in from in front of her, every word crisp and clear.
Somalie’s sentence was cut clean in half, and she looked up.
Toby stood not far off, the corner of his mouth curving slightly, his words carrying an edge of high–and- mighty superiority and a pushy streak.

Their gazes collided in the air, and the clash of two such similar auras made the moment a little tense.
Listening to these two top–tier trust fund kids going at it, Maya couldn’t keep her face from falling.
“Mr. Clark,” Somalie said, looking up at him and knitting her brows, “what does this have to do with you?”
“Ms. Fernando,” Toby said without a shred of warmth in his voice, “what exactly were you about to say to my sister just now?”
Showing off the power of the Fernandos to his sister, in their own home?
Was this heiress seriously confused?
A layer of cold settled over Toby’s eyes.
“We were just having a normal conversation, and besides…” Somalie tried to set this insufferably arrogant man straight, “I’m the heir of my family too, and our two families do plenty of joint business in overseas markets. I’d think you’d be aware of that?”
“I’m aware. So?” Toby let out a laugh, his tone openly toying with her, sarcasm dialed up to the absolute maximum. “I’m just trembling with fear over here, Ms. Fernando.”
Somalie was livid.
His tone was unbelievably obnoxious.
Somalie had been provoked clean out of her composure.
Having finished needling the heiress, Toby turned to Maya beside him, his voice suddenly polite and gentle. “May I sit here?”
His tone was polite enough.
But that “May I” was asked with zero genuine intent to seek anyone’s permission.
Before anyone could answer, he’d already sat down.
Somalie was speechless.
Wendy, dense as ever, was still watching Toby and Somalie with a beaming smile, thinking the two kids actually had plenty to talk about.
Seeing his brother successfully claim a seat, Edric couldn’t sit still either.
He got up and walked over.
Watching Edric go and not come back, the remaining two traded a glance.
George narrowed his eyes, and Alfred’s gaze stayed flat.

In silence, the two of them reached a consensus.
Show up late and there’d be no seat left.
Fibrhed
The two stood up almost at the same time, and George even quickened his pace by a couple of steps, trying to grab a good spot ahead of Alfred.
Raymond sat where he was, watching his wife, his daughter, and his sons stand up one after another and walk off to take their seats.
