Chapter 409 The Dead

The file beneath the photograph was packed with detailed records. Every page clearly documented what this man had done and exactly how many people he had killed.

It wasn’t that Edric looked down on his little sister, but Snowfinch had held the second strongest pusition for years.

The Maya of today simply shouldn’t have been capable of defeating him.

On top of that, the man had disappeared years ago. How did Maya run into him in the middle of the night?

Yet the impossible had become reality.

Snowfinch was dead.

Maya had killed him.

Then was there a connection between his death and Maya’s time travel?

Edric’s instincts told him there was. He immediately wanted to contact their parents or speak with someone else in the family.

ric immediately dropped the subject. He realized that this was something he simply couldn’t say aloud.

To avoid making things worse, he changed his question. “What happened between you and Maya when she was seven?”

George’s tone immediately turned serious.

He carefully searched through his memories. Every word carried quiet reverence. “She killed someone for me.”

Edric fell silent for a moment. “Answer one thing. If she hadn’t been there that day, would you have died?”

George lightly pressed his lips together. A faint smile appeared.

When he remembered the day he almost died, fear wasn’t the first emotion that came to him. Happiness was. “I would’ve.

“I definitely would

His answer carried absolute certainty.

Fuusher

George couldn’t imagine any way he could’ve survived back then. He hadn’t even wanted to keep living very badly. Since she’d saved him, he’d naturally become devoted to her.

Edric lowered his eyes. His fingers tightened until his knuckles turned white.

The last time, she might’ve traveled back for George.

Then who was it this time?

George sensed that Edric was holding something back. He just didn’t know why.

In the end, Edric didn’t explain anything.

Right now, he only needed confirmation.

“Think back carefully. Tell me everything that happened when she was sever. Don’t leave out a single detail.”

“Okay.”

Neither brother slept that night.

Both of them threw themselves into investigating the chain of events that began with their younger sister killing someone in the middle of the night.

The next day came.

Alfred had already arranged several days of leave for Maya. She slept until late in the morning before finally waking up in a daze. The moment she opened the bedroom door, she saw her brother sitting quietly in the corner.

The dark figure dressed entirely in black startled her. She instantly woke up.

She bent over and poked the little swirl of hair on the top of his head.

‘You really stayed here all night? You silly fool.”

Alfred didn’t argue with the nickname. Instead, he leaned against her leg. “I am a silly fool.”

Maya fell silent.

She reached out and tugged on his bangs. Alfred’s head tilted back slightly. His eyes quietly met hers.

He moved close again. He wrapped his arms around her with the posture of someone clinging to his only support.

It felt less like a hug. It felt like dependence.

Maya lightly smacked him on the shoulder. Then she pushed away her overly clingy brother.

I’m hungry I’m getting something to eat.

Maya had been staying at the Clarks’ estate lately. Lunch was always ready whenever she wanted it. Living a carefree life where she only had to eat and rest felt wonderfully comfortable.

While they ate, Alfred suddenly spoke.

Will there be another time?”

Maya didn’t understand at first. Then she noticed him staring directly at her. Only then did she realize

what he meant.

She shook her head.

‘I can’t say for sure.”

Alfred looked completely crushed. “Can’t you take me with you?”

Maya stayed quiet for two seconds.

‘Let’s skip this topic, okay?” Her voice softened. “I promise that what I’m doing isn’t dangerous.”

Alfred pressed his lips together. He only looked at her without speaking.

‘And one more thing.” Maya continued after seeing his silence, “Please stop watching me all the time.”
