Xaden had a feeling someone had interfered with the letter from the pack, because Kane should have informed him everything that happened in the battlefield and also… Fenja.

The latter was not a specific order, but Kane should understand that when Xaden told him to inform him about ‘everything‘, it included his mate.

However, when Xaden didn’t receive any letter, he knew something was not right. And because of what Shena told him before, that the king had been interfering and even giving a mission for Shena to seduce him, he knew it must be her, who had done it.

Especially when Xaden reached the capital city and his men didn’t approach him. Everything was not right. Therefore, he came here to meet them personally, since they couldn’t get through the king’s people. “What else?” Xaden asked after Rocco informed him about all the latest update about the battlefield and the progress of the bridge.

The bridge could be used again now and the battlefield was under control. Kane killed Alpha Don, and it shocked the Sakaris Kingdom. From Kane’s letter, the enemy most likely wouldn’t attack for some time, since they lost a lot of casualties.

The death of their alpha was a huge hit for their moral, thus once alpha Don was down, it was easy to kill the warriors during the battle.

“They were like headless chickens,” Rocco said with delight.

“What else?” Xaden asked impatiently. He felt good to hear that Kane could control everything, but there was another important news that he wanted to hear.

“Oh, this is about luna Fenja.”

“What happened with her?” Xaden’s eyes were slightly darkened and Rocco couldn’t talk fast enough for his liking. “What is it?”

“I don’t know how to explain the luna’s condition, for a while. I will get the letter, I am afraid I may miss something in my explanation.”

And with that, Rocco went to his room and retrieved the letter that Kane had sent him. In total, there were four letters that he had received.

All of the letter explained about the progress in the battlefield, but also explained what happened with Fenja. Her condition deteriorated very fast. Arya assumed, at this point, she would have lose her wolf spirit, since she couldn’t shift into her wolf anymore and didn’t have strength most of the time to stay awake.

The other letter explained that Arya had an idea to fill the emptiness of the bond because of Xaden’s absence by inviting alpha Neil and Luna Elle.

Yet, even before Xaden could read the next letter, which explained how wrong it was to invite them, he already could tell that it wouldn’t be a good idea.

The next letter confirmed what he thought.

Currently, the alpha and the luna were still there and they demanded to see Fenja, and Jaxon, they wouldn’t leave without seeing them and Fenja decided to restrict their movement instead of kicking them out outrightly. Kane thought Fenja didn’t want to give the order because it would make the relationship between the two packs conflicted.

Xaden felt like he wanted to tear the letter into pieces. How could Arya be so stupid to invite them?

But then, the healer didn’t have a better idea about the relationship between Fenja and her parents, she only saw this as a solution.

Xaden then remembered what Arya had warned him about Fenja’s wolf spirit.

“Have you replied to the letters?” Xaden asked Rocco, who was standing in front of him nervously, staring at the floor.

“No, not yet. Because I don’t know what to say to the beta. I have been waiting for you to write a reply” Rocco was fidgeting.

Xaden contemplated for a while, there were a lot of things that he wanted to say, but in the end, he settled for the important one. “Tell Kane that I am going back as soon as possible.” He then added. “And then kick alpha Neil and his mate out of the pack. I want them to be gone right away”

Their presence there wouldn’t help to improve Fenja’s condition. If anything, they would only make it worse. “Right away, alpha.” Rocco straightened his back when Xaden stood up. “Are you going to leave now, alpha?” “Don’t approach me again and then move from this house and go to the River Creek pack, there is nothing for you to observe here.”

Rocco was surprised because he was being relocated. “Is it… because I didn’t do my job well, alpha?” He was a little bit self conscious because the alpha had to visit him instead of the other way around.

“No. You have been trying to approach me, there is a chance someone in the royal warriors have recognized you, it is not safe for you to be here, moreover, once I kicked alpha Neil and his mate out of the northern pack, they will be our enemy. I need you to keep your eyes on them.”

Hearing that Rocco breathed in relief, because it meant the alpha was not pissed with him. “Yes, alpha. I will carry out the assignment.”

“Hm.” Xaden then left.

Fenja watched Jaxon crawled towards her. He was eight months now and he got bigger and bigger. She felt so bad because she missed a lot of times with him, because she was sleeping.

However, Fenja couldn’t help it. She couldn’t stay awake long enough, especially when the pain hit her so hard. She could only curl herself on the bed and wait for the pain to subside.

Not even Arya’s concoction could help her condition.
