Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 134

He was caught between a rock and a hard place, unsure of how to navigate the trap she had just set.

If he admitted he hadn't noticed the errors, he was confessing to sheer incompetence.

If he claimed he had noticed but deliberately swept them under the rug, he was confessing to sabotage and a lack of integrity.

Weighing his options, Clarence decided to play the fool, though his tone remained defiant. "You clearly don't understand the sheer volume of paperwork involved in supplier selection. With this many files, overlooking a tiny data point or two is completely normal. It's not a big deal."

"You mean these files?" Willow tapped the stack of documents on her desk, which comprised nearly everything he had submitted. "I finished reading all of these. It took me exactly one hour. I didn't find it particularly challenging, and I certainly don't think it's 'normal' to overlook critical details."

Clarence scoffed. "Are you just trying to show off?"

"I'm trying to teach you some professional accountability," Willow fired back severely. "Your position oversees the most critical phase of this project. If the foundation cracks at your level, the subsequent implementation will completely fail."

Clarence's face hardened. "I've been managing projects for years. I don't need lectures from you."

"Yet the facts remain. You made a massive mistake."

Losing his temper, Clarence raised his voice. "What exactly do you want from me? It's just a couple of numbers! Are you really going to drag this out endlessly?"

Ignoring his outburst, Willow maintained her strict, business-like composure. "You have two options. Option one: you get Sinclair Group to provide a revised, accurate proposal within twenty-four hours. Option two: we throw their bid in the trash and select a supplier from the remaining four candidates."
