Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 450

Mayor Henderson didn't particularly care about her threats. He had lived most of his life out here in the backwoods. There really wasn't much left in the world that scared him.

That was just human nature. The older a man got, the closer he got to the end, the more he just wanted to follow his conscience and speak the truth.

That evening, after freshening up, Willow initiated her usual video call with Silas.

The room was dimly lit by a single, warm yellow desk lamp. Her long hair was tied back casually, and she wore a simple, loose cotton loungewear set as she answered the call.

This had been their unbreakable routine for the past few days. No matter how chaotic their days were, they always carved out an hour at this exact time to talk.

During these calls, Willow usually did most of the talking, sharing every little detail, every person she met, and all the trivial things that happened that day.

On the other side of the screen, Seattle's neon skyline cast a brilliant glow, contrasting sharply with the cold, understated luxury of Silas's living room.

Silas lounged back in his leather chair, his dark, intense gaze fixed on Willow through the screen, never wavering for a second.

He wasn't happy. An inescapable ache swirled in his eyes as he watched her sitting in that Spartan, run-down room. He could never be at peace knowing she was living like that.

Yet, he also knew this was what she wanted to do. If he truly loved her, he had to support her.

Still, Silas couldn't help himself. "Do you remember what I told you? Don't push yourself too hard out there. If you feel sick or if anyone gives you a hard time, you tell me immediately."

Willow's eyes curved into a sweet smile. "I'm perfectly fine. The mountain air is great, the food is good, and no one's giving me a hard time."
