Since getting Jade fired hadn't broken her resolve, Julian had decided to use her parents as his ultimate leverage. He threatened their corporate accounts directly, making it crystal clear: if Jade didn't drop Willow's case, he would personally ensure Yates Enterprise was utterly destroyed and wiped out of New York.
Lydia was practically weeping into the receiver. "Jade, please, just come home. We don't understand the full details of what you're involved in, but you have to be reasonable. Your future and the family's legacy are on the line. Come back, we'll figure out a way to apologize to Mr. Sinclair, and you can drop this case. Let it go."
Listening to her mother cry, Jade fully realized the weight of Willow's warning. Julian truly had absolutely zero boundaries.
But she wasn't going to cave. "Mom, I'm so sorry he dragged you into this. But I cannot drop this case."
"Jade!" Eugene bellowed in the background. "Are you really this selfish? This company is the blood, sweat, and tears of generations! Are you completely disregarding our legacy? Your grandparents' legacy? Are you going to let this entire empire be destroyed on my watch?"
"I'm sorry," Jade repeated, her voice steady but cold. "I'll find a way to fix this, but I am not abandoning this lawsuit."
With that, she hung up the phone. On the other end, Eugene was so furious he nearly threw his phone against the wall. But having navigated the cutthroat corporate world for decades, he wasn't entirely out of options.
He turned to Lydia. "Call her friend. The Willow girl. This entire mess started because of her. If our daughter won't listen to reason, I'll go straight to the source."
When Willow answered the unfamiliar number, she was completely confused by Lydia's frantic pleas. But it didn't take long for the devastating truth to sink in. Her best friend had sacrificed her entire career and was now risking her family's livelihood, all to protect her.
Willow felt utterly sick to her stomach. She apologized profusely to Lydia, swearing she would take full responsibility and handle the situation. She didn't even need to ask who was orchestrating this. There was only one person capable of such calculated cruelty: Julian.
After hanging up, she immediately went into her phone settings, unblocked Julian's number, and dialed it.
