"I'm in the mood for what you usually eat. Let's just stick to your normal routine and grab something casual."
Even though he said that, Willow still picked a stall with a slightly nicer seating area, ensuring they had their own separate booth. That way, he wouldn't have to squeeze in with everyone else.
Once they sat down, Willow pulled out her phone to order. Everything was done via QR code these days. She quickly selected her usual meal, then handed her phone across the table to Silas. "Take a look. What would you like?"
She had planned to explain the menu to him, assuming this was his first time at a place like this. But before she could even open her mouth, Silas handed the phone back. "I already ordered."
"That fast?"
Willow glanced at the screen and realized he hadn't picked anything new. He had simply duplicated her order—down to the exact spice level and extra toppings.
Thinking he had made a mistake, she explained, "You don't have to order the exact same thing as me. And you can change all these customizations. Tell me what you want, and I'll adjust it for you."
"I'm not changing it. That's exactly what I want," Silas insisted, surprising her with his stubbornness.
"Alright then." Willow didn't push the issue. Maybe it was just a coincidence, and he actually liked those flavors. It was best to respect his choice.
It wasn't long before their food was ready. Willow started to stand up to grab the trays, but Silas stopped her. "You don't need to do that. Just sit here."
With that, he stood up and headed to the pickup counter.
Soon, he returned with two identical bowls of food, then made a second trip for their silverware and napkins, running back and forth until everything was perfectly set up.
Throughout the entire process, Willow had repeatedly offered to help. Sitting there while a powerful executive fetched her food felt incredibly awkward. But Silas was resolute, refusing to let her lift a finger. Willow was left with no choice.
She didn't quite grasp his meaning.
Silas encouraged her patiently. "Earlier, you said our relationship is what?"
"Boss and employee," she answered instantly.
"That applies in a professional setting. But we aren't working right now. This is personal time," Silas looked at her with a gentle gaze. "Think about it again."
Willow was stumped. She genuinely couldn't think of any other connection between them aside from work.
Silas didn't rush her. Speaking to her as softly as one would to a child, he guided her. "Don't you remember? I told you this once before."
