"Did something happen? Did I mess up a project?" Arthur asked cautiously.
"This has nothing to do with you," Silas replied, a hint of impatience in his voice. "Just answer the question. Am I attractive or not?"
"Yes, absolutely," Arthur said quickly.
Silas let out a quiet breath. He knew Arthur wouldn't lie to him.
"Am I the type of man women actually like nowadays?" he pressed.
Arthur's eyes widened. If he wouldn't get fired for it, he would have shaken his boss by the shoulders. How could Silas be so oblivious to the admiring stares and whispers that followed him everywhere he went?
"Without a doubt."
Silas fell silent for a moment before delivering the final question. "And compared to Julian Sinclair?"
Arthur didn't even blink. "You win by a landslide, boss."
"Good. You can go."
Thinking of his paycheck, Clarence swallowed his pride. "I didn't mean it like that. I'm just looking out for the project. Please don't be upset. I promise you have my full attention from now on."
"You better mean it," Vivienne warned coldly. "Willow Horgan is bad news. We have history, and she will do everything in her power to force me out of this deal. You keep a close eye on her and report every single move to me."
Shortly after she hung up, her assistant informed her that Julian wanted to see her. Vivienne dreaded the summons. She knew exactly what was coming.
Before heading to his office, she ducked into the restroom. She wiped off her lipstick, smudged her eye makeup, and deliberately messed up her hair to look as fragile and exhausted as possible.
