Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 30

Hearing this, Willow paused for a moment, but within seconds, she quickly reacted. "What dog?"

"What do you think?" Julian looked at her coldly, a mocking smirk playing on his lips. "Do I need to remind you? The one you took when you barged into my house."

"That is my dog." Willow's voice was resolute.

"But we've been the ones raising it for the last three years."

"You call that raising? You were abusing him!"

The moment this was brought up, Willow couldn't keep her emotions in check. The image of Cooper being kicked and beaten by Toby instantly flooded her mind. Even now, she still had nightmares about it.

Moreover, she didn't believe for a second that Julian was unaware of it.

Sure enough, in the next second, he spoke. "So what? Don't forget, it's just an animal."

"An animal?" Willow repeated with a cold laugh. "I guess that depends on how you define it. Some people walk around wearing human skin, but at their core, they're worse than animals."

"Willow," Julian warned her, "angering me won't do you any good."

"Furthermore, from the day Toby was born until now, there hasn't been a single thing he's wanted that he hasn't gotten."

Willow refused to back down an inch. "How you choose to spoil him is your business, but if you think I'm giving Cooper back, don't even dream about it."

"And what if I insist?"

"Then just try it."

Willow was putting everything on the line this time. There might be room for compromise on other issues, but not this one. Cooper was her absolute bottom line. Leaving him in New York three years ago had been an irreversible mistake. Now, all Willow wanted was to give him some warmth in his limited life.
