"I'll let it slide this time, but never again."
Hearing him relent, Vivienne Sinclair's face instantly lit up. "Don't worry, you have my word. It won't happen again."
Taking advantage of his better mood, she slipped in another request. "Julian, the Seattle Bio-Tech Summit is next week, and I'd like to attend. Aside from checking out the latest industry tech, I want to meet up with Leo Yardley and his team to build some rapport. Since we're usually on opposite coasts, regular face-to-face meetings are essential."
Though she pitched it as a professional courtesy, her true motive was to confront Leo in person and clean up the mess before Julian found out what was really going on.
Julian was always generous when it came to technology investments, so he didn't even hesitate. "Fine by me. Make the arrangements yourself."
Meanwhile, in Silas Thorne’s office, he was discussing the exact same event with Willow Horgan.
Knowing how passionate Willow was about this field, Silas had actually stepped in as a financial backer for the summit.
After he gave her the time and location, she agreed to go without a second thought. She might not care about the usual corporate networking, but she was always eager to dive into anything related to gene editing.
Seeing her agree so readily put Silas in an exceptionally good mood. It wasn't often he managed to do something that visibly delighted her, and the thirty-something billionaire suddenly found himself feeling almost awkwardly endearing about it.
He immediately pulled out his phone to check the weather in Seattle. Seeing the forecast predicted heavy rain and dampness, he quickly reminded her to pack an umbrella and the right clothes. He warned her about Seattle's notorious spring showers and made sure she knew to bring dehumidifying packets.
