Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 314

But Julian was the one holding all the power here, and her entire future depended on him. No matter how furious she felt, Vivienne had no choice but to swallow her pride and follow his orders.

She considered arguing further, but that would only fracture their relationship even more. Willow was a glaring example of what happened when you pushed him too far, and Vivienne was far too smart to make the same mistake.

Sticking to Julian's timeline, she choked down a quick meal and hurried back to the conference room. He wasn't there yet, so she waited.

Ten minutes later, Julian walked in. Vivienne immediately approached him. She knew how to bend when necessary, always keeping her eyes on the prize. Right now, that meant making amends. "Julian, please don't be mad at me. I was just so hungry my blood sugar dropped. I felt awful, which is why I snapped."

"You have low blood sugar? Since when?" Julian asked, his brow furrowing. They had been together for a long time, and this was the first he was hearing of it.

Vivienne had pulled the excuse out of thin air, and his sharp question sent a spike of panic through her. She scrambled to cover her tracks. "I developed it after having Toby. It's not severe, so I never brought it up. Between skipping meals and the motion sickness today, it just flared up."

Julian stared at her, genuinely struggling to believe her. Knowing how spoiled and demanding she was, it was impossible for her to suffer in silence. When she was pregnant with Toby, she had thrown a fit and demanded he fire the chef just because a dish was slightly too salty. The idea that she would keep a medical condition a secret was highly suspect.

Sensing his doubt, Vivienne doubled down. "What's wrong? Do you not believe me? If you think I'm lying, I can go to the hospital right now and get a doctor to pull my records."
