Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 373

Standing this close, she was enveloped by his signature scent—a clean, crisp woodsy aroma with deep notes of sandalwood and amber.

She held her breath as she folded the fabric back twice. "Is this good?"

"A little higher," he murmured.

She gave it another roll. "How about now?"

"Perfect." Silas extended his other arm. "Now this one."

Willow repeated the process. Because they were standing mere inches apart, every time she lifted her eyes, she was met with the sharp line of his jaw, his sensual mouth, and his intense, magnetic gaze. Her heart hammered against her ribs, her eyelashes fluttering nervously as she kept her head bowed, her ears burning red.

When she finally finished, a rush of reckless adrenaline hijacked her brain. "Do you often have other people roll up your sleeves for you?"

The words tumbled out before she could stop them. She instantly regretted the question, not expecting him to dignify such a bold inquiry with an answer.

But Silas didn't brush it off. He looked down at her, his expression utterly sincere. "No. You're the only one who's ever done this for me."

Willow couldn't meet his eyes. She took a hasty step back, ducking her head to hide her flushed cheeks.

Seeing her flustered state, Silas mercifully let the subject drop and focused on the stove. He kept her involved with small tasks—asking her to hand him a plate or pass a spice jar—just enough to make her feel included.

Because of the slow-simmered broth, the meal took some time. By noon, he had plated three gorgeous dishes and a deeply fragrant soup. The spread looked like it belonged in a five-star restaurant.

Willow couldn't resist snapping a quick picture with her phone.
