Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 435

Vivienne's group stood at the base of the mountain.

Taking one look at the catastrophic weather, a staff member frowned heavily and stepped forward to warn her. "Ms. Sinclair, the rain is too heavy. The trail is completely compromised, and there's a high risk of mudslides. It's extremely dangerous to head up now. We should wait in town until the storm passes."

But Vivienne was entirely consumed by her desperation to prove her brilliance and leadership to Mr. Smith. Desperate to claim the glory, reason flew right out the window.

She gazed up at the fog-drenched peaks with arrogant defiance, tossing her head as she feigned unbothered grace. "It's just a little rain. If we can't overcome a minor inconvenience, how are we supposed to handle the rest of the research?"

Despite her team's repeated pleading, Vivienne refused to yield, doubling down on her demands.

Left with no choice and bound by her authority, the staff collectively sighed and reluctantly followed her into the storm.

It didn't take long for reality to set in.

The torrential downpour had turned the dirt path into a thick, sticky swamp. Every step plunged their boots deep into the muck, requiring immense effort just to pull their feet free. Their pants were soaked through with freezing, muddy water, weighing them down and making progress excruciatingly slow.

A sudden, violent gust of wind nearly knocked the entire group off their feet. At that point, the team refused to take another step.

Even Mr. Smith spoke up, advising that there was no need to rush into the mountains under such horrific conditions. He firmly suggested they return to town and wait it out.

But Vivienne was blinded by her own ego. In her mind, conquering the harshest elements would only highlight her superior capabilities. So, she made an executive decision: the rest of the group could head back, but she would take a small, elite crew and press forward.
