The trail is completely compromised, and there's a high risk of mudslides. It's extremely dangerous to head up now. We should wait in town until the storm passes."

But Vivienne was entirely consumed by her desperation to prove her brilliance and leadership to Mr. Smith. Desperate to claim the glory, reason flew right out the window.

She gazed up at the fog-drenched peaks with arrogant defiance, tossing her head as she feigned unbothered grace. "It's just a little rain. If we can't overcome a minor inconvenience, how are we supposed to handle the rest of the research?"
