Suddenly, it hit her. Her eyes sparked with the manic thrill of victory as she lashed out, "Silas, I'm telling you, she's playing you! Have you even bothered to look into her past? She hasn't even finalized her divorce with Julian yet, and her marriage is a total trainwreck! And way before she even married Julian, she was already dirty. I bet you had no idea she had such a filthy past, did you?"
"Oh?" Silas's voice was a low, lazy drawl, perfectly masking any hint of emotion. "How exactly do you know all this?"
Believing he had swallowed the bait, Vivienne felt a violent surge of triumph. She eagerly pressed her advantage. "Don't forget, my last name is Sinclair. I grew up in that house. There isn't a single dirty secret about her that I don't know! Don't let her play you for a fool. Besides, she didn't even used to look like this."
Silas listened to her frantic rambling in total silence. His expression hadn't shifted a fraction of an inch from the start. But when he finally spoke, his words dripped with absolute venom.
"Whatever you think you know, you will swallow it right back down into your throat. If I ever find out a single other soul has heard this garbage, I will personally hold you responsible for every last word."
Vivienne, who had been riding the high of a perceived victory just a second ago, had her reality shattered once again. The color drained from her face, leaving her looking deathly ill. What shocked her even more was the fact that Silas didn't seem angry at Willow at all.
She couldn't process it.
What man wouldn't completely lose his mind after finding out the woman he loved had that kind of past? Anyone else would be utterly repulsed, yet Silas didn't show an ounce of fury. If anything, he was defending her fiercely!
"You... you're not mad?"
"Why would I be mad?" Silas fired back, his tone freezing. "I already knew."
And he didn't just know about it—he was the very man Willow had been with that night.
