Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 538

The second Smith was out of sight, the polite, radiant smile vanished from Vivienne’s face. Glaring at the empty doorway, she hissed a vicious curse. "That stubborn old fool. He's a nightmare to manipulate."

She had orchestrated that conversation flawlessly. She had balanced humility with assertive confidence, laying out the WH narrative with absolute perfection. Every syllable, every micro-expression had been fiercely calculated. She had been so certain she had him cornered. To think the old man still refused to fully capitulate was infuriating.

Taking a deep breath to smother the raging fire in her chest, Vivienne whipped out her phone and dialed Jayden.

The instant the call connected, her suppressed rage exploded. Her voice was shrill and frantic. "I sat there and played him perfectly! I fed him every detail, I hit every emotional beat, and I acted my heart out! And you know what? That paranoid bastard still doesn't believe me!"

Jayden seemed to be in a place where he couldn't speak freely. After a long pause, he finally answered. "What exactly happened?"

"What do you think happened?" Vivienne snarled, teetering on the edge of hysteria. "He's too damn suspicious! No matter how seamlessly I spun the web, he kept his guard up. He won't admit I'm WH. You need to fix this right now. I am out of time!"

Her frantic demands grated on Jayden's nerves, but remembering the massive payout waiting at the finish line, he forced himself to remain patient. "I get it. He's naturally paranoid. Leave the rest to me. I'll handle it."

Hanging up the phone, the polite warmth in Jayden's eyes bled away, replaced by a dark, calculating shadow.

It looked like he was going to have to get his hands dirty.
