Her whole body went rigid. It felt like all her blood rushed to her head, only to plunge into a frozen lake. A numb, icy sensation crawled over her skin.
She had definitely impersonated WH, but she never, in her wildest dreams, imagined that the real WH was Willow.
This was a catastrophic double blow. Not only had she been exposed, but the very capital she had flaunted and revered actually belonged to the woman she despised the most. Vivienne's entire reality was turned upside down.
Her mind blanked, a deafening ring echoing in her ears.
But with hundreds of eyes staring at her, she couldn't back down. She definitely couldn't admit that her glory and academic achievements were stolen.
After just two seconds of shock, Vivienne violently suppressed the massive tidal wave of panic inside her and shrieked back, "You're lying! You doctored these records! They mean absolutely nothing!"
She glared fiercely at the screen, biting down hard on her excuses, desperate to invalidate the evidence. "GeneEdit Nexus is entirely anonymous. There's no public way to verify backend data! Anyone can fake a screenshot. You have no way of proving those logs are real!"
"You're just trying to frame me and destroy my career in front of the entire industry!"
Willow watched her pathetic thrashing quietly. There wasn't a ripple of emotion in her eyes, just a faint, lingering trace of mockery.
She knew Vivienne would deny it to her dying breath.
Throwing the logs on the screen was never meant to be the killing blow. She knew a few screenshots wouldn't make Vivienne confess; it was just setting the stage.
Now that the trap was set, it was time to drop the guillotine.
