Seeing her wake up, the medical staff rushed over to examine her. They quickly concluded that she had suffered no physical harm. It was merely a brief spell of dizziness brought on by extreme stress and anxiety, and she would recover with a few moments of rest.
Just as Vivienne was frantically trying to spin a new excuse to back out, another sharp male voice rang out from the entrance, shattering the silence once again. "Isn't Mr. Thorne pushing things a bit too far?"
This time, it was Julian.
He stormed into the venue in a dark suit, his expression fierce and practically vibrating with anger. The second he stepped in, he aimed all his hostility at Silas. "She just collapsed! Her body is failing, and her mental state is completely shattered. It's just an academic test—is it really necessary to torture her like this?"
Silas didn't look even remotely surprised by his arrival. He merely cast a cold, apathetic glance at Julian, his tone merciless and unyielding. "She can choose to forfeit, but the experiment will be concluded. Willow's innocence must be proven in front of everyone today."
Julian's brow furrowed tightly as he took a few steps forward. He still wanted to negotiate. He refused to believe that Silas would entirely burn his bridges with the Sinclair Group just for Willow.
Switching to a more persuasive tone, Julian said, "Mr. Thorne, it's always best to leave some room for grace. We have a long future ahead of us. After all, Sinclair Group and Merit still have ongoing partnerships, don't we? Let's drop this for today. We can delay the experiment for a few days until Vivienne recovers, and then discuss it calmly. There's no need to publicly drive her to the edge of a cliff."
"The edge of a cliff?" Silas let out a low, dark scoff, his voice chilling to the bone. "The one driven to the edge wasn't Vivienne. It was Willow—the woman whose years of blood and sweat were stolen, who was dragged through the mud by the entire internet as a fraud, and who had her very identity ripped away."
His tone left zero room for negotiation. "With the top experts and media gathered here today, the only way to completely tear down these lies and completely restore Willow's name is to finish this test right now, under the world's watch."
Hearing this, Julian knew Silas was dead set. In an instant, his jaw clenched, and whatever remaining politeness he held shattered. "Silas, do you really have to be this ruthless? Show some mercy. It's just a dispute over an academic title. Do you really need to go for the throat?"
