When Silas didn't say a word, a spike of anxiety hit Willow. Thinking she had done something wrong, she peeked up at him nervously. "Did I... did I say it wrong?"
"No. No, not at all. It was perfect," Silas finally choked out, snapping back to reality. He pressed his forehead aggressively against hers, his breathing ragged and his voice dangerously hoarse. "I was just... so incredibly happy, my brain stopped working."
He was overwhelmed with a joy so violent it bordered on madness. He wanted to rip the stars from the sky and hand them to her.
Silas immediately turned to his driver. "Take us straight home."
Willow blinked, tugging lightly at his tie. "Wait, aren't we going to the office? Don't you have that massive cross-border conference call in an hour?"
Silas leaned in, his lips brushing against her flushed ear. "Cancel the call. I have much more pressing business to attend to right now."
Willow instantly understood the dark promise in his voice. Her face burned fiercely, and she buried her head back into his solid chest, refusing to look up for the rest of the ride. She stayed perfectly still, letting him hold her tightly the entire way back to the penthouse.
The drive was a blur. The moment they stepped through the front door, Silas’s iron-clad restraint shattered.
He kicked the door shut, his arms wrapping around Willow like a vice as he pinned her against the wall, crashing his lips down on hers. Unlike his gentle coaxing outside the courthouse, this kiss was a blistering inferno of possessive heat and frantic devotion.
The warm hallway lights cast long, intertwined shadows against the wall.
When he finally pulled back to breathe, he rested his lips against the corner of her mouth, his chest heaving as he demanded, "Say it again. Call me your husband."
