That was exactly why he had asked her about her future plans previously, offering his help.

Seeing his reaction, Willow felt a bit confused. Given how close they were to Julian, he definitely should have mentioned it. But on second thought, maybe she was overestimating her own importance. To Julian, her resignation probably meant absolutely nothing. He didn't care, so he didn't bother bringing it up.
