Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 323

"Of course," Lawrence said, gently cradling the small bundle. "I memorized everything the vet said. Medication, injections, vaccines, feeding schedules—you don't need to worry about a thing."

"He's so tiny," Bonnie murmured, a crease forming between her brows. "He might be terrified in a strange new place. If it's not too much trouble, could you keep a close eye on him? I'm worried the stress might make him sick again."

"I'll set up his crate right in my bedroom," Lawrence promised. "Rest assured, he'll be fine."

Bonnie nodded. "By the way, where are you staying?"

If it was on her route, she could swing by and grab the puppy while moving her boxes.

"Riverside Heights," he replied. It was right near The Waterfront.

Definitely not on her route.

Bonnie reached out and affectionately scratched the puppy behind the ears, a laugh bubbling up in her throat. "Well, aren't you a lucky boy? You get to live the high life for a few days."

Lawrence chuckled. After a brief pause, he asked, "Have you picked out a name for him yet?"

Bonnie didn't even have to think about it. She had decided the moment she laid eyes on the scruffy little thing. "Let's call him June. After all, June is when we found each other."

A soft, warm light seemed to bloom behind Lawrence's glasses. "June," he repeated softly, the name rolling off his tongue with a hint of quiet delight.

Bonnie didn't try to analyze the shift in his tone. She simply declined his offer to walk her to the door, stepping out of the car and popping open her umbrella.

She grabbed her spare heels and the gorgeous bouquet he had given her for graduation.

As she turned toward the dormitory entrance, Lawrence suddenly remembered something. He carefully set June down on the passenger seat, threw open his door, and stepped out into the pouring rain.

"Bonnie!" he called out over the downpour.

Bonnie paused, turning back with the bouquet cradled in her arms. Through the heavy sheet of rain, she saw Lawrence standing by the car, one arm resting on the roof, his clothes already clinging to his skin.

She raised an eyebrow in a silent question.

Lawrence's heart began to race, keeping time with the frantic rhythm of the rain. His glasses were instantly fogged and speckled with water, blurring his vision. He pulled them off, and though the world grew slightly hazy, Bonnie's face remained perfectly clear in his mind's eye.

A brilliant smile broke across his face.
