Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 324

Right before bed, Bonnie checked her phone. A new message popped up on the screen.

It was from Lawrence.

[June is being a very good boy. He took his meds, drank his goat's milk, and now he's out cold.]

Attached was a photo of June sprawled out on a plush dog bed, his little back legs splayed out in a full sploot, fast asleep. Lawrence had apparently gone out and bought a playpen, setting it up right by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the master bedroom.

Through the glass, the dazzling night view of The Grand Reach stretched out like a glittering ribbon.

Amidst the neon glow of the bustling city outside, the bedroom was cast in the warm, quiet amber of a single bedside lamp. The tiny silhouette of June snoozing in the corner was incredibly endearing.

Bonnie replied with a quick OK and closed WhatsApp. She paused for a second on Lawrence's profile picture. It was a shot of a window frame, looking out at lush green trees with a single sparrow perched on the sill.

She recognized it immediately. It was the window of the hospital room where he had lain in a coma.

It was a hauntingly beautiful composition.

Bonnie locked her phone and went to sleep.

The next morning, she dragged herself straight to the studio. Talk about terrible timing—the local officials for The Benevolence Chapel project had suddenly demanded an immediate review of the architectural plans.

And Perry, that infuriating junior architect of hers, hadn't even finished the 3D models.

Bonnie managed to buy them a little extra time from the officials, then practically dragged Perry out of bed to get to work.

That sudden rush turned into a five-day marathon. Bonnie was juggling multiple projects, working day and night, forcing Perry to burn the midnight oil alongside her. His endless whining fell on deaf ears.

When it came to work, Bonnie's heart was as cold and hard as reinforced concrete.

On top of everything, she had a firm move-out date for her apartment, plus a final graduate school farewell dinner to attend. To make it all work, she had to push the project forward at warp speed.

Over those five days, Bonnie only caught glimpses of Lawrence's updates when she had a spare second to breathe.

June was certainly living his best life. His daily routine consisted of staring out at The Grand Reach from a massive luxury penthouse.

Or, occasionally, peeing on a king-sized mattress.

Lawrence: [Sounds great. I’ve been meaning to try some authentic local food.]

A second later, he dropped a location pin. [I'm actually right by your campus picking up a few things. Do you have time tonight?]

Bonnie sent a shaking-head emoji. [Graduation party with the master's cohort tonight. Rain check?]

Glancing at the clock, she realized it was time to clock out anyway. Their class president had booked out a barbecue joint and threatened everyone that they weren't leaving until they were all thoroughly drunk.

There were about twenty people in their program. Bonnie and Yvonne were both studying under Dale, and they had agreed to head to the party together. Bonnie stood up and glanced over at Yvonne's desk.

Empty.

Yvonne had been back from Waverly for two days and still hadn't shown her face at the studio.

Bonnie shot her a text. Yvonne replied immediately, saying she'd just meet her at the restaurant.

Shrugging, Bonnie grabbed her purse and phone, shut down her computer, and headed for the door. Just as she stepped out, Perry materialized beside her like a restless ghost.
