Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 389

Only then did Lawrence notice the flight crew standing at the top of the stairs, watching them with polite, amused smiles.

He had gotten carried away again, completely forgetting he was still strictly in the pursuit phase.

Clearing his throat and pressing a fist to his mouth, Lawrence quickly followed Bonnie onto the plane.

...

By mid-October, under the directive of the relevant authorities, the joint Kingswood University and The Lane Group Relief Task Force officially departed for Highvale.

The university's Dean of Civil Engineering and Dale, the architecture professor, led the charge. The team was comprised of experts across various disciplines, forming the Highvale Reconstruction Technical Task Force. Their primary objective was to conduct preliminary surveys and draft architectural restoration plans.

Magnolia Group, a subsidiary of The Lane Group, acted as the primary contractor and investor for the rebuilding efforts.

Bonnie arrived three days ahead of Lawrence. She had braced herself for severe altitude sickness, but surprisingly, stepping off the plane didn't hit her as hard as she expected.

She only experienced mild dizziness and a bit of nausea.

The Lane Group's contributions went beyond reconstruction; they had also deployed a dedicated medical team to support the task force. Thanks to their guidance, Bonnie adjusted to the altitude exceptionally well.

Dale was also faring much better than Bonnie had feared. However, he was still recovering from a major illness. Upon arriving in Highvale, his blood pressure spiked, and he suffered bouts of severe nausea. It took Bonnie's sheer stubbornness to stop him from diving straight into work.

Yvonne and the senior classmate were completely wiped out. It took three full days of bed rest before they were back on their feet. Because of this, Bonnie spent the initial days shadowing the senior faculty members during their site surveys alone.

It was only after arriving that she learned from the other professors just how extensive Dale's experience with disaster reconstruction truly was. Furthermore, the rebuilding of traditional Tibetan architecture desperately required his expertise.

Local religious customs were a massive factor in the region. Everywhere Bonnie looked, she saw locals trailing behind monks, praying and bowing.

Bonnie chuckled. "Our senior classmate had it way worse than you. When I dropped off his dinner, he barely had the energy to speak."

Yvonne shot a jealous look at Bonnie's complete lack of symptoms and let out a heavy sigh, pulling out her phone only to confirm she still had zero signal.

"Being out here really puts things in perspective. Our lives back home were so damn comfortable. Seeing these people lose their homes, their families... it breaks my heart."

Bonnie's chest tightened. Her eyes stung, tearing up instantly. Just as she was about to respond, a knock echoed against the thin door.

Then, a familiar voice drifted through.

"Candie, it's me."
