Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 523

Approaching fifty, Odette didn't have a single gray hair on her head. She looked nothing like the broken, grief-stricken mother from his memories who had spent her final years drowning in regret and sorrow over her children. A sharp sting hit the back of Lawrence's eyes, but he forcefully swallowed the emotion down.

He swapped his shoes for slippers, stepped around the wooden lattice partition, and called out, "Mom."

At the sound of his voice, Hannah snapped her eyes open and shot up from Odette's lap. A flash of victimized hurt crossed her face, rapidly solidifying into furious resentment over being abandoned.

Yesterday, she had chased him out of the hotel and all the way to the parking lot, desperately trying to stop him from going after Bonnie. Instead, Lawrence had blatantly ignored her, leaving her utterly stranded at the freezing ski resort.

He had ignored her calls, left her texts on read, and discarded her like trash. His entire universe revolved solely around Bonnie.

Consumed by toxic jealousy and bitter grievance, Hannah knew her anger was useless. She was supposed to be the older sister, while Bonnie was just the girlfriend. Yet, in Lawrence's heart, the hierarchy was glaringly obvious.

Recalling the terrifying, unshakable determination in Lawrence's eyes when he had practically shredded the illusion of their sibling bond at the resort, a vicious cramp seized Hannah's chest. Her eyes burned red as she glared daggers at him.

Lawrence didn't even spare her a fraction of a glance. He casually took a seat on the opposite end of the sprawling sofa. Odette, noticing the freezing tension between them, assumed they had simply gotten into another petty childhood squabble and let out a helpless sigh.

"Your sister got blackout drunk yesterday," Odette scolded gently. "When the driver brought her back, she couldn't even recognize us. She got carsick, threw up half the night, and is still nursing a massive headache. I asked her what happened, but she refuses to say a word."

Odette sighed again. "Lawrence, didn't you take your sister and Bonnie skiing yesterday? How did it end up with you and Bonnie coming back early while she was left behind to drink herself into a stupor? What exactly happened? Can't you fill your mother in?"

Lawrence stared down at the porcelain teacup on the coffee table, tracing its rim with his finger. He didn't even lift his head. "Bonnie had something to handle at school. I drove her back."
