Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 64

Saturday afternoon, Bonnie showed up at the teahouse.

She headed for her usual table, glancing for a moment at the corner booth hidden behind a decorative screen.

Every time she came here for a blind date, that booth always had someone in it, even if the rest of the place was empty. Once, as a waiter brought over some pastries, Bonnie had caught the faint sound of someone stifling a cough from inside.

She quickly looked away and sat down, settling in.

Date number six was waiting for her. Thirty-two, balding, working at a government company, constantly adjusting his glasses as if his entire personality depended on it.

Bonnie replied calmly, “Regular full-time.”

“So you were a top student. But you know, for women, studying too hard isn’t that useful. Eventually you still have to focus on family. I’m pretty traditional... I just couldn’t be okay with my wife being the breadwinner. Plus, the benefits at my workplace are better than your design firm’s. If you think we click, how about we add each other on WeChat first?”

His company’s matchmaking agency usually didn’t allow clients to exchange contact details, but he clearly thought Bonnie’s credentials were too good to pass up.

Bonnie set her teacup down, but just then, there came a tightly held-in cough from behind her.

She flashed a practiced smile. “Sure, you scan me, or should I—”
