"Our meeting was purely initiated by me. I wanted to chat with Ms. Shaw, and she was kind enough not to refuse!"
In just a few sentences, he absolved Seraphina of all suspicion and even elevated her character.
Seraphina breathed a sigh of relief. She glanced at the man beside her, and seeing his cold expression showed no intention of helping Clara, her heart finally settled completely.
She looked at Clara with disdain, yet the words that came out of her mouth were exceptionally weak. "Clara, I know you want to tear me down, but I really didn't do those things..."
Listening to their unreasonable twisting of the truth, Clara almost laughed out loud.
What an act.
No matter.
She wasn't exactly a saint either.
Clara nodded mockingly and pulled a black recording pen from her pocket. "You say I'm lying, right? I have an audio recording right here. Why don't we listen to it first before jumping to conclusions!"
Hearing this, Seraphina's expression changed completely. Disregarding everything else, she lunged forward to grab the recording pen, saying weakly, "Clara, we really didn't say anything. Why do you keep pestering me endlessly?"
Then why try to snatch the recording pen?
Clara sneered, yet she allowed Seraphina to snatch it away. As if by accident, it fell and smashed against the floor...
Smack!
"Oh! How could I be so careless!"
Seraphina picked up the broken recording pen from the floor with feigned regret, but inside she breathed a massive sigh of relief.
However, on second thought, sensing the scrutinizing gazes of the reporters below the stage, she froze again.
No one here was an idiot. Some things, whether black or white, could easily be figured out with just a little thought.
