Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 195

The banquet hall.

Julian led Clara through a round of networking. Seeing them arm in arm, looking so intimate, the rumors of their split dissolved instantly.

"Tired?" Julian leaned down and whispered after finishing yet another conversation, noticing the slight fatigue on Clara's face.

Clara paused, genuinely surprised. In the past, whenever she accompanied him to business dinners, she had been far more exhausted. She used to drink until her stomach was in agonizing knots, and he had never once shown an ounce of concern.

Why the sudden change tonight?

But then it clicked. He was just worried she would feel unwell and ruin his plans, especially since they hadn't even met with Mrs. Lawson and Mr. Lawson yet.

Clara offered a faint smile. "Don't worry. I took your million dollars. I will do whatever it takes to play the part perfectly tonight."

Julian's faint smile instantly evaporated.

He stared at her for a long moment before his voice dropped into an icy register. "See that you do."

Just then, Mrs. Lawson's elegant voice rang out from ahead. "Mr. Lowell, Clara."

Julian glanced up, then looked back at Clara, squeezing her hand tightly. "Remember what you promised," he murmured.

Of course. Business always came first with him. Clara's hand stiffened in his grip, her voice dropping even colder. "I know..."

Putting on a flawless smile, she walked toward the couple, offering a graceful greeting. "Mr. Lawson, Mrs. Lawson..."

The group exchanged pleasantries for a while.

Throughout the conversation, Clara played the role of the devoted girlfriend perfectly.

Seeing how affectionate they were, Mrs. Lawson felt immensely relieved, convinced Clara wasn't being mistreated like the rumors claimed.

As long as Clara was happy, she was satisfied.

Out of all the socialites in their circle, Clara was her favorite. Years ago, when the Lawson family had fallen on hard times and all the wealthy ladies avoided her like the plague, Clara was the only one who stepped up to offer comfort and introduce crucial business connections.

She would never forget that kindness.

Mr. Lawson watched the couple and chuckled. "You two seem deeply in love. When are you planning to tie the knot and start a family?"

Clara froze...

Julian offered a polished, reserved smile, gently rubbing her hand. "We're still enjoying our time together. We'll think about marriage and kids in a few years!"

Clara's eyelashes fluttered.

She looked at the man beside her, studying his sharp profile as he spouted lies with effortless calm. A wave of mockery swelled in her chest.

Men truly were exceptional liars!

Even without a shred of love, they could put on the perfect facade of a deeply devoted partner in public.

After chatting a bit longer, Julian went off with Mr. Lawson to discuss their project.

Clara stayed behind to keep Mrs. Lawson company.

Before leaving, Julian held Clara's hand and spoke in the soft, loving tone of an attentive boyfriend. "I'll come find you later."

Clara gave a soft hum. "Okay."

Mrs. Lawson watched them, unable to hide her amusement. "Mr. Lowell is quite clingy with you, isn't he?"
