Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 197

She pressed her hands violently over her mouth to stop a terrified whimper from escaping...

She had been completely certain that with Chase's vicious reputation and elite status, he would have utterly destroyed Clara tonight.

Instead, Dominic Jarrett had stepped in out of nowhere!

And he was so...

Thinking of the sheer brutality she had just witnessed, Seraphina couldn't suppress a violent shudder.

She couldn't comprehend why Dominic was going to such extreme lengths to protect Clara.

They had only known each other for a few days! Even if he had genuinely fallen for her, there was absolutely no reason to act like a complete psycho!

A sudden, ugly twist of jealousy clawed at Seraphina's chest. Mustering every ounce of courage, she peeked around the corner, looking toward the restroom...

But the man was already gone!

Where did he go?

What was he doing?

Seraphina's heart slammed violently against her ribs, her face growing even paler. She was suddenly terrified that Dominic might come after her next...

...

Dominic walked down the hallway and dialed Toby Marsh.

The call connected almost instantly. "Mr. Jarrett?"

Dominic's voice was ice-cold. "Get someone to hack into Seraphina Shaw's phone. Find the proof that she sent Clara's photos to Chase Colter."

Toby froze, totally caught off guard. "What?"

"Mr. Jarrett?" a familiar, gentle voice suddenly called out from ahead.

Dominic paused and looked up, his gaze instantly landing on Clara standing by the escalator.

She was smiling brightly, waving at him, her eyes shining with warmth.

In that very second, everything else in the luxurious hotel faded into mere background noise.

His entire world narrowed down to just her.

Dominic's Adam's apple bobbed as he stared, completely captivated.

Toby's voice echoed from the phone. "Mr. Jarrett?"

Dominic snapped back to reality, murmuring a low, "Just get it done."

He ended the call without another word and walked toward Clara, his steps light, a soft smile breaking across his face without him even realizing it.

Clara hadn't expected him to actually approach her. Watching him walk toward her, a sudden, inexplicable surge of emotion swelled in her chest—a feeling she couldn't quite put a name to.

Assuming it was just nerves, Clara smoothed her lips and walked forward to meet him, planning to apologize for the previous day. "Mr. Jarrett."

Dominic stopped in front of her, his gaze lingering for a restrained, aching second on her soft features. "Did you need me for something?"

Clara nodded apologetically. "I just wanted to say sorry again for yesterday. I promised to meet you, but something came up... I feel terrible about it."

The two walked side by side. From a distance, they looked like a flawless couple, an absolute perfect match. Because they were walking so closely, the soft fabric of her gown occasionally brushed against his sharp suit, creating an undeniable, electrifying tension.

And Julian Lowell witnessed the entire thing.

His networking wasn't actually finished, and he still had several partners to meet, but for some inexplicable reason, he had felt a sudden, burning urge to see Clara... He had brushed off the investors and walked over, only to be met with this exact scene.

Julian froze, his expression instantly freezing over.

Across the distance, he watched Clara and Dominic sit across from each other in the lounge like two lovers. He watched Clara beam with a radiant, genuine smile as she chatted with Dominic...

Did she only smile like that when she was with him?

A violent, suffocating wave of irritation crashed into him.

"Julian?" A voice suddenly called out from behind.

Julian frowned, turning his head to see a mutual friend from their circle. He gave a curt nod in greeting.

"Well, look who it is. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!"

The man chuckled, said something to his companion, and walked over, eager to discuss a potential partnership for the next quarter.

But to his surprise, he found Julian glaring furiously in Clara's direction... And Clara appeared to be chatting intimately with another man.

Julian's expression was downright murderous.

The man looked at him in surprise.

He knew all about the arrangement between Julian and Clara. Julian didn't love her; their current relationship was entirely a transactional charade to maintain appearances.
