Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 323

Julian glanced at her. He poured a glass of water, slid it across the table toward her, and stared at her in dead silence for a long moment before finally speaking. "Because I can't let you go."

"I refuse to watch my woman bend over backward and bow down to outsiders just to secure a project."

"It breaks my heart..."

Clara's breath hitched, her eyes instinctively growing misty.

So he actually knew how to feel heartache for her? Then why had he relentlessly bullied and used her all those times before?

Clara turned her face away, the tip of her nose flushed red.

Julian wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her against his chest. Desperate to hide her vulnerability, Clara struggled to break free, but when she couldn't escape his iron grip, she finally squeezed her eyes shut in sorrow.

Julian's dark eyes were bottomless pools as he tenderly wiped away her tears. "Clara," he murmured, "these past few days, you've constantly reminded me that we're broken up, that you're done with me, icing me out completely. I never told you, but it's tearing me apart inside. For the first time in my life, I'm realizing just how agonizing the price of losing you truly is."

"Clara, please give me one more chance. Let me take care of you. Let me make it all up to you. Please?"

He paused, lowering his head to rest on her shoulder. Nuzzling his straight nose affectionately against her neck, he rasped, "I don't want to lose you."

Clara's heart violently quivered. Emotions surged and crashed like wild tides, leaving her heart dangling precariously in midair.

Before tonight, she had never once imagined that this man—who had always held absolute dominion over their relationship—would ever utter such desperate words to her.

She knew his arrogant nature too well; extracting a confession like this from him was practically impossible.

Yet, after enduring so much pain, she was genuinely terrified.

Closing her eyes, Clara pushed against his chest with trembling hands and whispered hoarsely, "Julian, get up first. Please don't do this..."

Julian nuzzled against her luminous skin, burning with raw heat. But ultimately, he leashed his primal desires, sitting up straight and murmuring a compliant, "Alright."

But his predatory gaze never left her body, completely saturated with the naked, consuming hunger a man holds for his woman.

Clara couldn't bear to look at him. Humiliated and blushing furiously, she ducked her head to adjust her collar, her fingers trembling so violently she couldn't even grasp a tiny button.

Julian's eyes darkened, and he naturally reached out to fasten it for her. As Clara practically combusted from embarrassment, she heard him say, "Clara, I won't force you. I'll give you time. I just have one request—don't reject my efforts to treat you well, okay? And from now on, stop saying we're broken up."

Clara froze, her heartbeat spiraling wildly out of control while her cheeks flushed scalding hot. Suddenly, the words of rejection caught in her throat.

Julian chuckled. After fixing her collar, he cupped her face and pressed a lingering kiss against her forehead, whispering hoarsely, "Thank you."

Clara let out a breathless gasp, utterly overwhelmed. Realizing what had just transpired, her face ignited like wildfire.

She couldn't even explain why she hadn't rejected him just now. Deep down, she had probably been swayed by his intoxicating sincerity.
