Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 353

Dominic was an incredibly astute man. He knew exactly what she was trying to do—she was subtly telling him to leave.

But he also knew her intentions were purely protective. She was afraid he would end up hurting Clara.

Her fierce protectiveness over Clara was obvious, proven by years of unwavering care and devotion.

She was nothing like Zane Sutton.

Dominic's eyes darkened slightly. Just as she opened her mouth to say something else, he interrupted her with a low voice. "Rest assured, I will never hurt Clara."

Rosalie froze.

Since things had come this far, there was no point in hiding it. Dominic laid it all out. "It is exactly as you suspect. Clara and I knew each other long before this, and... we were deeply in love. The only reason she doesn't recognize me now is because she went through something traumatic and lost her memories. I plan to do whatever it takes to help her recover them."

Rosalie's eyes widened in sheer shock, staring at him in disbelief. "You... the two of you... How is that possible? I can't believe it..."

Dominic's dark eyes were profound. Reaching up, his thumb brushed past his collar to fish out a silver chain. He rested the pendant in the center of his palm—it was a ring.

"You must have seen this ring in Clara's possession. She bought it for me back when we were together."

Seeing the ring, Rosalie was rendered entirely speechless.

She absolutely had seen that ring among Clara's belongings. Later on, due to various circumstances, she had been the one to help Clara take it off and put it in safekeeping.

She even remembered when she had been hospitalized for her foot injury a while back, Dominic had somehow gotten the ring from Zane Sutton and confronted her about it. She had been terrified and managed to brush him off with an excuse.

She never imagined his connection to Clara ran this deep.

Rosalie nodded numbly, murmuring to herself, "So she actually lost her memory. No wonder... I always thought she carried herself with such grace and was so brilliant, she never seemed like an ordinary girl..."

Dominic adjusted his collar, suddenly falling silent. Losing her for three years remained an agonizing, bleeding wound in his heart.

Rosalie closed her eyes, rubbing them tiredly. When she spoke again, her voice was laced with a raspy edge. "Well, in that case, I leave the task of helping her regain her memory in your capable hands, Mr. Jarrett. She is a truly wonderful girl. She doesn't deserve to fade away here. She deserves a much bigger world, and she deserves... to return to the world she actually belongs to."

Dominic's throat tightened. "I will make sure of it..."

"If you ever run into a problem you can't solve, feel free to call me. I'll help however I can. Thank you for looking after her all these years."

Rosalie's eyes welled with heat. She waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry about me, just take good care of her... Well, I should get going. I'll be back tonight to check on her."

Not wanting to interrupt them, she hurried away. The moment she turned her back, she couldn't hold the tears in anymore, letting them fall freely. She had treated Clara like her own flesh and blood for years. Saying goodbye was tearing her apart!

Dominic watched her receding figure until she was gone. He stood in silence for a moment before pushing the ward door open. The very first sight of the pale, frail woman lying in bed, staring blankly into space, made his heart completely soften. His grip on the door handle tightened subconsciously.

Clara was entirely absorbed in thoughts of her impending departure and her plans to expose Julian and Seraphina's scandal, completely lost in a daze.

Hearing the door click open, she snapped back to reality. She looked toward the entrance, and seeing Dominic, her heart skipped a beat. She immediately tried to sit up. "Mr. Jarrett..."

Dominic's chest seized. He quickly closed the distance, gently pressing her shoulders to keep her down. "Don't get up. Just lie down and rest. I only came to check on you... I'll be leaving soon."

Feeling the warmth radiating from his hand through her gown, Clara bit her lip in embarrassment and lay back down, whispering, "Thank you, Mr. Jarrett..."

"It's nothing."

Dominic's thumb instinctively stroked the back of her hand as he released her. "You..."

"Um..." Clara spoke up at the exact same moment.

The two spoke simultaneously. Realizing it, their eyes locked. In that split second, it felt as if hot and cold collided, leaving a distinct, charged tension lingering in the air.

Clara's ears flushed red, and she immediately dropped her gaze.

Dominic, however, was perfectly composed. The look in his eyes was one of unfiltered, profound devotion. He said in a low, husky voice, "You first."

Clara bit the inside of her lip, stealing a cautious glance at him. "It's about... my nephew. Was it you who pulled strings behind the scenes?"

She wasn't some naive little girl. She wasn't foolish enough to believe a hospital would extend that much goodwill to a patient with zero background or connections.

Someone incredibly powerful had to be pulling the strings from the shadows for the hospital to step up like that.

And that person definitely wasn't Julian Lowell, because he had already dismissed his own specialists. It had to be Dominic Jarrett.

Dominic arched an eyebrow, slightly surprised she had figured it out so quickly, but he didn't deny it.

Confirming her suspicions filled Clara with a deeper sense of gratitude toward him. At the same time, it only made the entire situation feel all the more baffling.

She had never known him before. Their only interactions had been a handful of professional meetings regarding a collaboration. They didn't share any genuine personal history. So why did he continually go out of his way to rescue her?

"Mr. Jarrett... why are you helping me so much?" After hesitating for a moment, she finally voiced the genuine question weighing on her heart.

Dominic stared deeply at her, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. What he truly wanted to say was—

*Because I love you.*

But he knew the timing was all wrong. He couldn't rush it. He had to take it one careful step at a time.

His thin lips pressed together before he replied, "Because I want to poach you for my company."

Clara blinked in surprise. "What?"

Dominic poured her a glass of water, placed a straw inside, and set it gently on her nightstand. He looked at her intently and said, "You don't need to worry about Julian Lowell. I have a foolproof plan. Would you like to hear it?"

Clara's eyelashes fluttered. "What is it?"

Dominic looked at her steadily. "Assume an entirely new identity and move to Somerset. That way, no one will ever find you."

Clara was stunned. It was undeniably a brilliant plan, but changing identities was incredibly difficult. "I..."

Dominic gently patted her shoulder, his voice soothing and incredibly tender. "As long as you are willing, I will handle the identity change for you."

Clara's lips trembled. Meeting the man's deep, dark eyes, she felt an inexplicable, sudden jolt in her chest. A subtle, electrifying current rippled through her, leaving her entirely flustered.

She frantically averted her eyes.
