Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 363

"Mr. Lowell, what are you doing here? It's not safe, you really should head back!"

Julian's face was pale. Ignoring the warning, he demanded, "How is the search going?"

"We haven't found anything yet. We need more time."

Arthur paused, unable to hold back his confusion. "Mr. Lowell, who exactly is trapped in there? Didn't you already rescue Seraphina?"

At the mention of it, a suffocating lump formed in Julian's throat. He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a long moment before he could force the words out. "It's Clara."

Clara?

Arthur was utterly stunned, standing frozen in place for a solid thirty seconds. "How did this happen...?"

Julian's eyes were bloodshot. Refusing to discuss it further, he walked past him toward the rubble.

"Which sectors have you cleared?"

Arthur snapped out of his daze and hurried after him. He wanted to try and convince Julian to leave again, but ultimately gave up, pointing toward a specific area. "Over there..."

And so, the group combed through the wreckage for the entire afternoon, searching until the sky turned pitch black and visibility dropped to zero.

Seeing his boss still sweeping the ruins with a detector, his hands scraped and bleeding from digging through the charred rubble, Arthur couldn't bear to watch any longer. He stepped forward to intervene. "Mr. Lowell, it's late. Please go back and get some rest. We'll handle this."

Julian shook his head and kept working, moving like a soulless machine.

Seeing him like this, Arthur sighed heavily in his heart. His boss had realized his true feelings entirely too late...

He kept his thoughts to himself and tried again. "Mr. Lowell, if you keep this up, your body is going to give out! At least take a break to bandage your hands!"

He cautiously reached out and grabbed the detector in Julian's hand to stop him.

Julian instinctively moved to shove him away, but froze the second his eyes landed on the black mole on Arthur's wrist. Immediately, he seized Arthur's arm with a vice-like grip.

Caught off guard, Arthur let out a sharp gasp of pain, looking at him in utter shock. "Mr. Lowell, what... what's wrong?"

Julian stared dead at the mole, a dark, dangerous storm brewing in his eyes. He leveled a deep, piercing glare at him.

That single look sent a terrifying chill straight down Arthur's spine.

Julian's eyes narrowed. "You have a twin brother, don't you?"

Arthur had worked for him for years. Julian knew his character inside and out; Arthur would never conspire with someone like Seraphina.

That meant the man in the mask had to be his twin brother!

It made perfect sense.

Arthur was by Julian's side almost constantly, privy to every single move he and Clara made. His brother could easily fish for that information...

Arthur was momentarily stunned, entirely unsure why Julian was bringing this up now. But reading the lethal, oppressive expression on his boss's face, reality finally clicked into place. His stomach plummeted, and all the blood rushed from his face...

"He wouldn't..."

Julian released his arm, his voice a block of solid ice. "He's probably packing his bags to run away with Seraphina right now. If you want him to live to see another year, find him, and bring him to my office!"
