I watch the knife be plunged into Amalie’s heart. The slight gasp that she seems to make us freeze. Zviad lets out a growl that shakes the room.

Everyone freezes.

The witch that just killed my mate, stalls for a second before a cruel smile overtakes her features. “You are too late,” she cackles. That same language that Sara used, fills the room. As she chants, a white mist surrounds her.

Vickie and Kira stop me from rushing forward with a hand sign from Jasmine. “That mist is the power she is invoking from goddess,” Jasmine says as she sends a glare at the other witch.

“Hecate has long since abandoned us. We are taking what should be ours. We will make the humans kneel before us and the others fall in line,” the countess says. She glances around the room to see who will support her. She flicks her wrist and Amalie’s limp body goes sailing across the room.

Something inside of me snaps. My mate was killed and thrown away like she was trash. I growl at the wolves still in the room. I might not be their Alpha, but right now, I am so pissed that they take a step back.

“Let go,” Zviad orders as he pushes forward. Our pain mixes with the empty feeling. Zviad wants blood for the loss of Amalie.

“Alpha, please,” Vickie whispers brokenly as she feels the snap of losing her Luna. She has tears in her eyes.

“I want them dead,” Zviad growls as he starts to force a shift.

Is it a forced shift, if I want him to shift so he can rip everyone apart. I want to feel their blood in my mouth and their flesh rip under my claws.

Zviad lunges for the first witch that stands in our way. The witch tries to throw a spell at us, but Zviad continues on and goes for her throat. She lets out a scream that is cut short by her death. Zviad spits out the dead body and stalks forward.

Another witch goes to attack us, when Thalia’s body crashes into him. He goes does with a grunt before Thalia is silencing him. She pours her pain from losing her friend and Luna into her attacks.

Caitria, Kira’s wolf, takes on a rogue that is still in the room. They pair goes rolling before the female Beta is able to pin and kill the rogue. She swiftly moves onto the next wolf.

I catch the familiar scent of Kira’s brother. Then I see him, he takes out a rogue that had been sneaking up on Jasmine as she works.

Brother and sister give each other a nod before they dive back into the fray.

Zviad snaps his jaws into the hand of a witch and yanks her to ground. He uses his front claws to dig deep into her stomach. She screams in pain and curls in on herself.

“Stand down boy,” a large wolf says as he walks leisurely towards us. The room freezes as Jarrett’s wolf commands.

Witches and wolves clear a path for him.

“You!” Zviad growls we turn to face Sam’s father.

Subodh makes his way past those that remain in the room. “Stand aside and walk away,” he tells us.

“She just killed your Luna!” Zviad roars.

“That wolf was never my Luna! She never deserved the title,” he spits.

“Well, she is the only Luna that we will ever take. She deserves the title and support from those of the pack,” Zviad sneers at him.
