Nova nodded and headed downstairs to eat with Chloe.
Samuel watched her leave.
Once that paper was published, he'd love to see anyone from the Forrester family dare to look down on Nova again!
As for Yvette, if she wanted to sit idle, let her sit idle. The company didn't need dead weight anyway.
...
After lunch, as they prepared to head up for their midday break, Chloe mentioned she was craving something sweet. She wanted to buy drinks to wash down the meal but insisted on getting one for Nova. She told Nova to head up first while she waited for the order.
Unable to decline, Nova watched Chloe walk away.
While waiting for the elevator, Nova heard a familiar voice from behind.
Before she even turned around, a complaining tone rang out: "Why is it you?"
Nova didn't even bother looking back. She just stared at the elevator indicator, noting it was stuck on the eighteenth floor. None of the four cars had come down yet.
Seeing Nova completely ignore him, Kieran felt a flare of anger.
He was about to snap when Chuck Clayton, standing beside him, spoke up. "Ms. Clarke, yesterday both Yvette and Tristan were badly hurt because of you. Shouldn't you at least go visit them?"
Nova turned to look at Chuck.
Chuck didn't hide his blatant distaste for her. His face remained expressionless as he continued.
"Tristan's back was lacerated by the materials; he was in surgery for half an hour just to clean the wounds. And Yvette's hand basically had a chunk of flesh torn off—it was bleeding everywhere. They both suffered such severe injuries, while you walked away perfectly fine. Doesn't your conscience bother you at all?"
Nova almost laughed out loud.
Tristan wouldn't have been hurt in the first place.
It was Yvette's own sheer stupidity. When the materials collapsed, she was standing in a safe zone, yet she sprinted directly into danger.
Tristan only got hurt because he threw himself over her to protect her.
And as for Yvette's "injuries"? What did that have to do with her?
Yvette brought that entirely upon herself.
Nova's face turned icy. She ignored them. The elevator was arriving.
