"First, it's a massive waste of both our teams' time. In a corporate partnership, human resources and hours are strictly capped. Second, from a professional standpoint, handing over a rough draft severely damages your credibility. Third, business contracts require clear boundaries of liability. If we waste weeks debating an immature concept that ultimately fails or causes critical errors during execution, who takes the fall? You? Or our company?"
Nova didn't miss a beat. "I need you to understand something, Ms. Sellers. When you step up to the table to propose a partnership, you are here to do business. You are not here to ask for a tutor."
"Corporate partnership is about equal value exchange, efficient fulfillment, and professional delivery. This is the second time I've had to explain this concept to you, and it will be the last. If you still don't understand how the real world operates, I suggest you ask Mr. Forrester. My team is not running a charity class on basic corporate literacy."
Yvette's face drained of color, turning an ugly shade of pale.
She genuinely thought her proposal was brilliant. She had spent hours conceptualizing it!
She never imagined Nova would attack her from an operational angle rather than a technical one.
She realized too late that she had underestimated Nova and walked right into a slaughter.
"My apologies," Yvette forced out, swallowing her pride and biting back her fury.
Nova nodded and shifted her gaze to Tristan. "And what is your stance, Mr. Forrester?"
For a split second, Nova thought she saw a faint smirk pull at the corner of Tristan's mouth.
But when she blinked, his eyes were as cold and unreadable as ever.
Suppressing her rage, Yvette took the initiative to play the martyr. "Ms. Clarke is right. The fault is mine. I've spent so many years entirely focused on academic research that I lack a certain grasp of commercial operations. Tristan, I'm willing to terminate the contract. I will personally cover the penalty fees. I'm so sorry."
Tristan looked at her. "Are you sure?"
Yvette nodded, looking heartbroken. "Yes. I just feel terrible for letting down your good intentions."
Nova didn't catch the hushed whispers they exchanged afterward.
It was likely Tristan comforting her. Within seconds, Yvette was smiling again, pouting playfully at him, looking like the ultimate wronged victim.
