Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 290

The lack of sleep over the past few days had left Nova's eyes burning.

She applied some eye drops in the restroom, dabbing away the excess liquid with a tissue. She walked out with her eyes half-closed, only to be met with a sudden voice:

"Are you crying?"

Nova opened her eyes to see Yvette frowning at her.

Yvette found Nova incredibly pathetic.

She had pulled all these aggressive, cutthroat corporate stunts, and for what? She still couldn't get Tristan to look her way.

And now, here she was, hiding in a bathroom to secretly cry about it.

"Nova, let's talk," Yvette offered, taking the high ground.

Nova kept walking. "I don't think we have anything to talk about."

Seeing Nova trying to leave, Yvette grabbed her arm. "Why not? Are you scared? What are you running from?"

Nova had always known Yvette loved living in her own delusions. Staring at the hand gripping her arm, Nova sighed. "Fine. Speak."

Yvette let go, staring her down.

While Tristan was inside discussing a new contract with Stephen, Yvette had stepped out and done the math.

If Nova pursued the penalty clause, Yvette was on the hook for a thirty-million-dollar breach of contract fee.

She didn't have that kind of money. And even if she did, paying it meant letting Nova win her petty revenge game. The thought made her sick.

She couldn't exactly ask Tristan to pay it for her, either.

She didn't want him to think she was like Nova—a useless woman who relied on men to survive.

So, the only way out was to handle Nova directly.

"I'm going to make this very clear to you. Tristan doesn't love you. No matter how much you target me or try to tear me down, he will never love you or pay attention to you. Instead of letting jealousy rot your brain, you should focus on actually improving yourself."

Yvette took a deep breath, delivering what she thought was a magnanimous speech.

"If you're willing to change your attitude and do better, I'm willing to let the past go and mentor you. I'm always happy to help an independent woman. But the prerequisite is that you stop attacking other women over a man. Do you understand?"

Nova stared at her for a long moment before she actually burst out laughing.

"I think you're severely confused, Ms. Sellers. I was addressing objective business failures in there. But because you can't handle having your incompetence exposed in a professional setting, your default reaction is to deflect the blame and refuse to self-reflect. Let me give you a piece of advice: stop pretending you're always the victim."

"And please stop hallucinating that your lack of skill is somehow a result of my 'jealousy.' Trying to cover up your own inadequacies by pointing fingers at others won't save your career. Good luck to you."

Without waiting for a response, Nova turned and walked away.
