Before Nova could even process what was happening, Chloe was already cursing under her breath. "Damn it, talk about bad luck! Why did we have to run into these people today of all days? My good mood is totally ruined. Disgusting!"
Nova followed her gaze.
Tristan and Yvette were walking in, flanked by Chuck and Yasmin Forrester.
They spotted Nova, too.
But after a single, fleeting glance—as if she were a complete stranger—they looked away and took their seats in the VIP section, Zone One.
Nova looked away as well, ignoring them completely.
Chloe, however, was so furious she looked ready to flip a table. "Are you kidding me? Mr. Forrester is the one who booked out Zone One? I can't believe this. Why is our luck this terrible? Should we just leave, Nova?"
Nova shook her head, completely unbothered.
"You went out of your way to set this up for my birthday. Do you know that aside from my family, Belinda, my mentor, and Samuel, no one has ever celebrated my birthday? No one even remembers it. Why should we let some outsiders ruin our night? You paid good money for this."
Chloe's anger slowly fizzled out at Nova's words. She honestly admired Nova's composure.
And she was right! Why should they be the ones to leave?
If they don't like it, they can leave!
Right at that moment, the first firework shot into the sky.
It exploded into a magnificent, dazzling peony, followed immediately by countless smaller bursts of color, circling the massive central bloom.
Chloe gasped in awe. Her phone was dying, so she borrowed Nova's to record the show.
Next came incredible shapes—cats, dogs, and glittering stars woven into rivers of colorful light.
