Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 264

Thankfully, Tristan didn't insist on holding onto the baby.

Nova took little Latonia and immediately passed her out of the car.

Watching the nanny secure the baby, Nova steadied her voice. "Take her back to her family."

Tristan watched the entire exchange until the child was driven away and Nova sat back down...

"You know that child?" Tristan asked.

Nova's heart clenched, but her face remained perfectly calm. "A colleague's baby."

Tristan pressed, "Your colleague had their baby sent all the way here just for you to look at?"

Following his gaze, Nova realized the car was already gone.

It truly did look as if the baby had been brought here strictly for her to see, and Tristan was terrifyingly perceptive...

Nova felt ice water in her veins, her body involuntarily trembling.

Guilt and fear overwhelmed her. She was convinced Tristan had figured it out, that he had seen right through her!

She couldn't bear to imagine what would happen if Latonia's identity was exposed. She would never get custody. Once Yvette became the next Mrs. Forrester, how would she treat Latonia? How would Tristan ignore the daughter she had risked her life to have?

"Yes!" Nova's voice shook as she looked up to meet his eyes. "She was brought here specifically for me to see!"

The strength a mother could summon for her child was boundless.

Nova stared straight at him, her eyes turning red as tears threatened to fall.

"Because I wanted to see what a baby born at this stage looks like. She was kind enough to let the nanny bring her over for a moment. It made me think of my own baby. If my child had lived, they'd be about this big right now, wouldn't they? They would have been full-term. They could have been born."

Tristan stared at her in silence, his gaze more focused on her than it had ever been.

Nova's eyes shifted from him to Kieran, who was sitting in the front.

Guiltily, Kieran looked away, unable to meet her gaze... No wonder Nova had acted so unnerved with the baby around them.
