Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 22

Chapter 22 Darcy the Chronic Liar

The next day, social media exploded with photos of Darcy at the Dexter Gems show.

Peppered among them were snippets of gossip about her mysterious boyfriend.

Brianna tapped through to take a look, zoomed in on one pic, and let out a soft laugh. She thought, This again?

She knew precisely who that blurry man in the photo was.

She rang up the head of a PR firm she’d worked with before and filled him in on the details.

By midday, the buzz about Darcy’s mystery guy had shot to the top of the trending list.

Right behind it were [Darcy’s fake CP hype with that male celeb] and [Darcy the chronic liar]. Brianna scanned the trends, a sly smile tugging at her lips without her even noticing. She tossed her phone aside and dove back into her work.

It buzzed. Brandon.

It was Brandon.

She wondered, What now? Is he really about to ask me to run damage control for Darcy?

Hey, Darcy’s all over the trends from last night, and it’s turning ugly. Sort it out for her.Brandon got straight to the point. Brianna laughed in sheer exasperation. If you’re that concerned, deal with it yourself, Mr. Big Shot CEO.

A brief pause on the other end.

She said, If there’s nothing else, I’m out.

Wait. She’s new to this. Too much negativity could tank her career before it even takes off.Brandon eased up his tone.

She thought, He is actually softening for her sake?

No can do. Not my problem. She ended the call with a click and zeroed in on her tasks.

Later that afternoon, she checked the time and called Clair.

Brianna and Patsy swung by the hotel to pick him up.

Clair had arranged a gettogether with Ronda and a couple of others; Brianna was treating.

It was a way to thank them for having her as the finale model. And also to glean some insights from the industry’s top players.

From the brand’s side, Brianna had perfectly captured the essence of the Woodland Waterfallas the night’s closer.

On top of that, Brandon had snapped up the necklace on the spot and given it to her.

Ronda was keen to build a personal rapport with Brianna.

Strong women tended to click effortlessly. During dinner, Ronda hit it off with Brianna and Patsy like they’d known each other forever.

After a bit of chitchat, things warmed up quickly.

Ronda cut to the chase. Pardon the nosiness, but what’s your relation to Darcy?

Brianna smiled, keeping it real. Halfsisters, same father, different mothers.

Ronda nodded knowingly; last night, side by side, their vibes were worlds apart, but their eyes and brows had a faint similarity.

She said, Someone’s put her forward as a potential brand ambassador. She’s a newbie, so I’d love your thoughts. She’d caught wind of those social media trends. And she’d sensed the undercurrents from the evening before. Still, she couldn’t ignore the pull from the Levy Group. Or the obligations to other entertainment outfits.

So, she was feeling out Brianna. She suspected Brianna could sway Brandon’s views.

When Brianna held back, Patsy chimed in, Ms. Mora, your judgment’s sharper than ours.

Ronda said, Darcy’s just breaking in. Sure, she could boost visibility for the brand, but we’re more concerned about any drama she might drag in.

Successfully unlocked!

Basically, she was fishing for intel on Darcy’s reputation.

Sorry, Ms. Mora, I can’t really comment. She was raised overseas, and we’ve had minimal contact.Brianna had perfected

the sidestep

Understood. Ronda raised her glass to toast Brianna and Patsy.

Patsy quipped with a smirk. In showbiz, any publicity is good publicity. Life’s just one big stage. It’s all in the performance.” The table erupted in laughter

After dinner, Clair said goodbye to Brianna, mentioning that the jewelry contest results were due soon and he was sure shed do great.

Brianna smiled and nodded, fingers crossed, but if not, no sweat

They parted with the standard warm farewells.

Brianna arrived home after ten that night.

She’d just stepped out of the underground garage and switched on the lights when the doorbell buzzed.

She thought, Who would come calling this late?

Curious, she glanced at the video monitor, and saw Whitney.

He must have been lurking there for a while. Brianna frowned in annoyance, wondering, What now?

She grabbed the video intercom.

At the sound of Brianna’s voice, Whitney adopted a paternal air. Brianna, getting back this late? Overtime again?Cut to the chase, what do you want?Brianna said icily.

Just let me in first. I want to check on you.

Say it or I’m done.

Whitney rushed in. Brianna, about the necklace Brandon got you last night. I need to talk something over with you.

Brianna let out a scoff, laced with mockery. Oh? Stealing all of Mom’s jewelry wasn’t enough? Now you’re after mine too?

Don’t twist it like that. Darcy has a movie premiere kickoff in a few days and just needs to borrow it. It’ll come right back.

Brianna shook her head with a cold laugh, floored by their audacity.

When Brianna didn’t cave, Whitney’s patience snapped. He banged on the door. Brianna, open this door!

Leave now, or I’m calling the cops.Brianna wasn’t about to get sucked into this.

Whitney chuckled darkly. Brianna, don’t bite the hand that feeds you! You think we don’t know the Levy family despises you?

And?

Once they boot you outwise up. Patch things up with Darcy, so you don’t end up humiliated

She cut him off midsentence by hanging up.

Grabbing her phone, she dialed to report the disturbance, then went upstairs.

Whitney fumed, clenching his jaw. He thought, Blanca is spot on. Trina and Brianna are nothing but curses on my life.

It was getting late, and security showed up. Not keen on escalating, Whitney shot the villa a hateful’stare and stalked away. Last night, she’d brought the necklace home without bothering to unwrap it, shoving it straight into her jewelry cabinet.

Coming from Brandon, it had lost half its appeal anyway.

Now, she pulled it out, examining it leisurely in her hands.

She hadn’t gone looking for trouble, but they just kept overstepping.
