Chapter 48
As Brianna stepped off the pine, she was torn.
She didn’t want to go home, but even now, she couldn’t shake off the fear that still hatrated her from that night
Once she got into Brandon’s car, Brianna finally spoke up.
“I want to stay at the Harper family’s place for a few days” she said.
“You’re not going anywhere until we find the killer,” Brandon replied, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Then, his voice softened as he added, “I’ll be worried.”
Brianna didn’t say anything else.
After nearly dying, all Brianna wanted was to see Kendra.
When they got home, Kendra wasn’t back from school yet, and Gabrielle had come over to check on Kendra.
For once, Gabrielle actually looked pleased to see the couple walk in together.
Brianna didn’t want to be under the same roof as Gabrielle, so she grabbed her stuff, made up an excuse, and headed straight to the office.
Patsy happened to be at the office.
As soon as she saw Brianna come back, she followed Brianna straight into Brianna’s office.
Patsy pulled out her phone, brought up some photos of Darcy at an event, and handed the phone over.
“Seriously, can’t Darcy go anywhere without your husband glued to her side?” Patsy scoffed.
“That dress she’s wearing? Brandon dropped 1.5 million dollars on it,” Brianna said calmly.
Patsy’s eyes
widened in disbelief.
“What? And you just let that happen?” Patsy demanded.
“What should I have done?” Brianna asked, rolling her eyes.
Patsy shook her head, frustrated at Brianna’s lack of action.
“You should’ve marched up and given her a couple of slaps, pointed right at her nose and asked, ‘Is a homewrecker like your mom only good at raising another homewrecker?” Patsy scoffed.
Brianna chuckled, keeping her cool.
“It’s whatever now,” she said.
But deep down Brianna couldn’t shake off a hint of sadness.
Patsy’s smile disappeared, her tone turning serious as she pressed. “Are you honestly willing to just hand handon over to her?”
