Chapter 79
After dropping Kendra off at school, Brianna wasn’t in a hurry to get to work. She printed out the newly drafted divorce agreement and drove to the Levy Group. She needed to discuss both the divorce and Kendra’s custody with Brandon.
Brandon looked genuinely surprised to see Brianna. A flash of delight flickered in his eyes, but it vanished almost instantly. He resumed his usual cold, distant demeanor and asked, “What brings you here?”
Brianna took a seat without hesitation. She looked up and met Brandon’s gaze. As she took in his appearance Brianna was surprised.
There were faint shadows beneath Brandon’s eyes, and he looked exhausted. ‘Since when did the ever–calm Mr. Levy look so anxious?‘ Brianna thought to herself.
After being distracted for a second, Brianna snapped back to reality. “I’m here to talk about Kendra,” she said.
Brandon was in a rare good mood. He got up and poured Brianna a glass of water himself. “What’s it regarding?” he asked.
Brianna looked serious. “You can’t keep leaving Kendra with your mother and neglecting her,” Brianna said.
Brandon knew Brianna would never make a fuss about Kendra without a valid reason. He shot her a confused look and asked, “Why did you say that?”
Brianna told Brandon about the call she received from Kendra yesterday and what Kendra had said about her aunt disliking her. Brandon frowned deeply, his lips pressed into a thin line as he sat there in silence.
Brianna knew how strong his family values were. He would never say a word against his own family in front of anyone outside the family. Therefore, she said nothing else.
Brianna dug the divorce agreement out of her bag and slid it across the table to Brandon. “Take a look. If you’re fine with it, sign it,” she said.
Brandon took the document, only glancing at the cover. With exhaustion clouding his eyes, he asked in a weary, resigned voice, “Must we divorce?”
“Yes,” Brianna said, nodding firmly. Deep down, Brianna felt completely at peace.
Brandon sat there with his arms crossed, staring down at his desk. His eyes were as fathomless as the ocean. Brianna waited in silence. After a long pause, Brandon finally broke the silence. “Can’t we just stay like this?” he asked.
Brianna looked at him in surprise. She knew he meant living separately, but not getting divorced. But she couldn’t understand why he was taking this stance, and she couldn’t make sense of the look on his face.
“No. I can’t tolerate even the slightest flaw,” Brianna said, her tone firm and uncompromising. It fell silent again. After a while, Brianna made a concession. “Well, if you think taking half of your assets is too much, I can go for less,” she said.
Brandon’s gaze turned icy. ‘She really thinks I’m hung up on the money?‘ Brandon thought, feeling a cold

annoyance rise in his chest. Brandon was just about to speak when the door was forcefully pushed open.
His assistant’s voice sounded from the hallway. “Ms. Meyers, Mr. Levy is busy right now…”
Brianna turned around just in time to see Darcy burst in, looking miserable and aggrieved. She clearly didn expect Brianna to be there and stopped dead in the doorway, stunned. The assistant spoke up nervously, “M Levy…”
“It’s fine. You may go,” Brandon said, a flash of annoyance in his
eyes.
The door was closed. Darcy had a sarcastic smirk tugging at her lips. Gone was her usual gentle, harmless persona; no more pretending to be the meek one. She walked over with blatant arrogance, helped herself to chair, and sat right next to Brianna.
Brandon’s presence was icy cold, making the air feel heavy. He locked eyes with Darcy, his glare a clear warning to keep her mouth shut.
Darcy couldn’t care less. With a smug smirk, she pulled a sheet of paper from her bag and smacked it right i front of Brianna. “Brianna, I’m pregnant. And it’s your husband’s child,” Darcy declared, her tone full of satisfaction.
Brianna shot Brandon a sharp look. His expression turned icy cold, and his eyes were filled with a deadly rage. Brianna only found the whole thing so ridiculous.
She had thought the woman he had an affair with recklessly was someone he would go all out to protect. No it seemed she was nothing special after all.
Brianna looked at the divorce agreement with a sarcastic smirk. At some point, Brandon had quietly stacked other documents on it, hiding it from view.
Faced with Darcy’s little stunt, Brianna couldn’t help but scoff. She gave Darcy a look of pure disdain and asked, “So what?”
Darcy looked at her with open provocation. “It’s time for you to hand over your place,” Darcy declared, her voice dripping with arrogance.
Brianna shook her head with a sneer. ‘Wow, the shamelessness really runs in the family,‘ she thought to herself. “Guess your mom taught you well,” she said sarcastically.
Darcy snapped right back at her. “Look who’s talking. You’re holding on to a man who doesn’t love you. Is that really worth it?”
“Darcy!” Brandon’s voice was icy and sharp, full of threats.
Brianna was caught off guard, and rage boiled up instantly. Darcy didn’t hold back; she kept taunting Brianna, her words sharp and arrogant.
“You can’t give Brandon a child, but I can. I’ll give birth to the proof of our love, his baby,” Darcy said with a triumphant sneer.
‘How did my child disappear? I can’t believe she actually dared say that!‘ Brianna fumed at the thought that

she gritted her teeth, and her hands trembled slightly.
Brainna’s words dripped with malice as she demanded, “Are you planning to let your kid be just like you, an illegitimate kid?”
Darcy was left speechless for a moment. She glared at Brianna viciously as she retorted mockingly, “So you‘ really going to be just like your mom? Clinging to a man who doesn’t love you for your whole life?”
Darcy struck a raw nerve with Brianna, who was so mad that she was itching to give Darcy a couple of slaps. She dug her nails into her palm, struggling to restrain her anger. Her voice dripping with sarcasm as she sai “Does he love you then? Ask him, does he love you?”
Brianna was certain Brandon wouldn’t stand up for Darcy in front of her. A man so protective of his own reputation would never choose to offend his wife for the sake of a mistress. After all, only a wife was truly bound to him by shared interests.
Darcy gazed at Brandon with tears shimmering in her eyes. “Brandon, is that true?” she asked, her voice quivering. As she spoke, her tears rolled down perfectly on cue.
Brandon’s eyes narrowed, his face all hard lines and angles, looking sharper than ever. “I’m not divorcing Brianna,” he said, his voice icy and resolute.
Darcy let out a wry, self–mocking smile and shoved the hospital report right over to Brandon. “Look, your baby and mine,” she said, her tone full of mockery.
Brandon didn’t even bother looking at it, shooting Darcy a glare that could kill. “I’ve told you, name. your price!” Brandon said coldly. He didn’t even show a shred of pity for Darcy’s tears.
Seeing she couldn’t get anything out of Brandon, Darcy turned her attention, and her hostility, right back to Brianna. With her voice full of determination, Darcy snapped, “I’m going to have this baby, no matter what!”
Brianna couldn’t help but laugh, her voice just as unyielding. “Well, that’s just perfect. I’m not getting divorced, no matter what,” she retorted.
With that, smiling wickedly, Brianna added, “I really want to see what it looks like when an illegitimate daughter gives birth to another illegitimate child.”
Darcy, not getting a single thing for all her trouble, was thrown off her game. She quickly went back to playin the helpless little lamb, acting all innocent and pitiful again.
