Master Ellis shot her a glare. “It’s your family’s business. You don’t even know, so how would I?”
“Master, your reach is vast…”
Seeing his master’s eyes narrow, she quickly corrected herself.
“No, I mean, you’re so perceptive. Of course you’d know more than me.” Mira looped her arm through her master’s, her face a picture of flattery. “Hehe, Master, please just tell me.”
Unable to fend off her pestering, Jordan relented. “Mara hemorrhaged. If she had arrived at the hospital twenty minutes later, she might have died.”

“You’ve already cut ties with them. Why do you still care about these things?” Master Ellis glanced at her.
“To know your enemy is the first step to victory.”

St. Meridian Medical Center.
Julian and his men burst into Lucas’s office. “Quick, help me out. Ouch, it hurts like hell.”
“What happened? Who did you get into a fight with?”
“Don’t even ask. It’s all that damn girl Mira’s fault.”
“She beat you up like this? Impossible.”
Lucas quickly called over his students to take Julian and his men for examinations and to treat their wounds.
