That
That woman.
I opened the door quietly and immediately saw her still deeply asleep, wrapped dramatically in blankets like she was emotionally recovering from war.
I folded my arms.
“Hello?”
Nothing.
“Hello, ma’am.”
Still nothing.
I walked closer.
“Wake up. It is morning already.”
Anna groaned without opening her eyes.
“Babes… leave me alone.”
I stared at her immediately.
“Please this is not your house.”
She opened one eye lazily.
“My husband is not here, so now you are my babes temporarily.”
Inearly choked.
“Do not call me that.”
“It comes naturally,” she said proudly. “Do you know how sweet our marriage is?”
I pointed toward the door immediately.
“Please leave my house before sunrise.”
She laughed tiredly and buried herself deeper into the blanket.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“This woman…”
Eventually she dragged herself out of bed while I sat in the corner chair scrolling through articles on my phone waiting for her to finish getting ready.
A few minutes later we headed toward the children’s room together.
And honestly?
“Dominance.”
That made her laugh so hard she had to cover her mouth.
Eventually we started the exhausting process of waking everybody up!
And children after parties honestly behaved like tiny emotionally unstable zombies.
Ava wrapped herself in blankets refusing movement.
Anna’s daughter claimed she physically could not stand.
Eli woke up with full energy for exactly six seconds before collapsing dramatically onto the mattress again.
“Mom,” he muttered sleepily, “my bones are tired.”
“Your bones danced for six hours,” I replied. “Get up.”
Meanwhile I had already ordered a ridiculously expensive English breakfast spread because after everything those children accomplished yesterday, they deserved temporary royalty treatment.
By the time we finally got downstairs, the dining table looked almost offensive in its luxury.
Waffles.
Pancakes.
