Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 2

Lydia POV

“Next week?”

“Yes.”

“As in, not today?”

“That is generally what next week means, yes.”

She took a deep breath.

“Lydia, that is the trap.”

I blinked.

“What trap?”

“The wedding-planning trap.”

I leaned back against my pillows. “Anna, I am begging you to explain what that means before I report you to somebody.”

She ignored me and began counting on her fingers. “Listen to me. You think you have time because you just got engaged. You’re happy, you’re in love, Dave is probably walking around smiling at walls, and you’re convinced that the wedding is going to plan itself whenever you’re ready.”

“I never said the wedding would plan itself.”

“You were thinking it.”

“I absolutely was not.”

“You have that face.”

“What face?”

“The face you make when you’re about to postpone something until the problem becomes too big to ignore.”

I opened my mouth, then closed it again.

That was deeply offensive.

And, unfortunately, not entirely inaccurate.

Anna nodded as though my silence had proved her point. “Exactly. Now, let me educate you.”

“Oh, God.”

“Case study number one.”

I sat up straighter. “You’re actually doing case studies?”

“Yes, ma’am. I came prepared.”

“Of course you did.”

She reached for something off-screen, and I watched her shuffle through what appeared to be a collection of notes.

I stared at her in disbelief.

“Anna, did you prepare a presentation?”

“Don’t distract me. Case study number one: the couple who got engaged in January, decided they had plenty of time, and didn’t start making proper arrangements until six months later. By the time they began contacting their preferred vendors, some were already booked. Their dream venue was unavailable, their first-choice photographer had another wedding on the same date, and they had to start compromising on things they genuinely cared about.”

I rubbed my forehead.

“That’s unfortunate for them.”

“Unfortunate? Babe, they ended up changing their wedding date twice!”

“Okay, that’s unfortunate.”

“And that’s only the beginning.”

I looked up at the ceiling.

Dear God, give me strength.

“Case study number two,” Anna continued. “The couple who wanted a particular venue during a popular wedding season. They assumed booking it would be easy because they had money. Unfortunately, money cannot magically create an available date. They had to choose between a less convenient date and a venue they didn’t love as much.”

I slowly turned back to the screen.

“Are these real people?”

Anna hesitated for approximately half a second.

“Does that matter?”

“Anna!”

“Lydia, the principle is what matters.”

I burst out laughing.

She looked thoroughly unimpressed.

“I’m trying to save your wedding, and you’re laughing at me.”
