Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 220

Not for him.

And definitely not for me.

By the time I finally got the twins upstairs and tucked into bed, the house had gone quiet again.

Not peaceful quiet.

Thinking quiet.

The kind of quiet that happens after emotions have moved through a room and left traces behind.

Eli was still asking questions while climbing into bed.

“So technically if adults are emotionally immature,” he said seriously while adjusting his blanket, “should they even be allowed to marry?”

Ava groaned immediately from the other bed.

“Oh my God, Eli, sleep.”

“No, because this is important.”

Eli pointed at me dramatically.

“We are continuing this conversation tomorrow.”

“No, we are not.”

“Yes, we are.”

“No.”

“Dictatorship.”

I closed the door before he could continue speaking.

Immediately the hallway silence hit me differently.

Rude

Not because I wanted him to fail.

God no.

But because it complicated things.

It would have been easier if he remained emotionally incompetent permanently.

Instead this man had apparently gone online, researched child psychology like he was preparing a corporate presentation, and showed up speaking like somebody actively trying not to damage children emotionally.

Disgusting behavior honestly.

Inconvenient growth.

I went downstairs afterward and opened my laptop immediately because unfortunately adulthood does not pause for emotional breakdowns.

Emails.

Client calls.

Brand approvals.

Crisis management updates.

One influencer currently panicking because she accidentally liked a hate tweet about another celebrity.

Another client trying to survive a PR nightmare after leaked private photos.

A billionaire businessman demanding reputation restructuring because apparently rich men believe money
