Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 288

LYDIA POV

The man stared at me for a second after I asked who exactly he was to me.

Then he smiled.

Not the awkward smile Dave had been giving me.

Not the polite smile Anna gave me whenever she was trying not to overwhelm me.

This was different.

It was the kind of smile that made me wonder if this man had always smiled at me like that.

“I’m a friend,” he said.

“A friend?”

“Yeah.”

He nodded, still smiling. “A very good friend, apparently.”

“Apparently?”

He chuckled.

“And we have a work relationship too.”

I frowned.

“Work relationship?”

“Well, technically, you helped my company.”

“How?”

He leaned against the edge of the hospital cabinet.

“My company was almost in ruins. Things were bad. Really bad. And then you came in.”

I blinked.

“I did?”

“You did.”

“And?”

“You basically helped us rebuild.”

I stared at him.

“Wow.”

He laughed.

“Yeah. Wow.”

“So I saved your company?”

“Pretty much.”

I looked at him again.

“That’s actually impressive.”

“It was impressive.”

I smiled.

“So we must have been close.”

He raised his eyebrows.

“Why do you say that?”

I shrugged.

“There’s something in your eyes.”

He smiled.

“What does my eyes say?”

I leaned back against the pillows.

“They say we’re more than friends.”

His smile became ridiculously cheesy.

“Your gut is telling you?”

I narrowed my eyes.

“Don’t start.”

He laughed.

“What’s your gut telling you?”

I burst out laughing.

“My guts tell me we’re going to be super cool even now, regardless of my memory loss.”

He placed a hand over his chest dramatically.

“I’ll take that.”

Before he could say anything else, Anna stepped forward.

“Okay, before the two of you start writing a whole romance novel in the hospital ward…”

She pointed at Theo.

“He’s my brother.”

I blinked.

“Your brother?”

“Yep.”

I looked at Theo again.

Then back at Anna.

“Hmm.”

I nodded slowly.

“No wonder.”

Anna frowned.

“No wonder what?”

“I feel that closeness energy with him.”

Theo grinned.

“See? I told you.”

Anna rolled her eyes.

“Don’t encourage yourself.”

I laughed.

Honestly, the whole thing was strange.

I didn’t remember Theo.

I didn’t remember Anna being his sister.

I didn’t remember whatever history existed between all of them.

But somehow, standing there with Theo felt easy.

Like I didn’t have to think too hard about what to say.

And maybe that was what frightened me a little.

Because if my brain could erase ten years but still somehow leave certain feelings behind…

What else was hiding in there?

“You almost injured our mom.”

Ava immediately joined in.

“Exactly.”

She folded her arms.

“You just came running in here and grabbed her. What if she had a headache?”

Theo looked genuinely offended.

“Duhhh.”

He crouched down until he was at their level.

“She’s my favorite girl too.”

He gave them a playful look.

“So I don’t care about what you say.”

Ava gasped.

“Excuse me?”

Eli looked horrified.

“You have favorites?”

Theo nodded.

“Absolutely.”

He opened his arms.

“Come here.”

“No!”

“Come here.”

The twins tried to move away, but Theo caught both of them and pulled them into a tight hug.

“Uncle Theo!”

“Leave us!”

“You’re squeezing!”

“I can’t breathe!”

“Okay, okay.”

He released them, laughing.

The twins immediately fixed their clothes.

“Urgh,” Eli complained.

“We are preparing to take our mom home.”

Theo nodded.

“Yes, there is that.”

He stood up and brushed his hands together.

Then he turned toward Dave.

“Hi, Dave.”

Dave looked at him.

“Hi.”

Theo extended his hand.

Dave took it.

And suddenly, the atmosphere changed.

Reading History

No history.
