Attached to something powerful.
I let out a quiet breath.
“She did well,” I said under my breath.

The rest of the flight passed… slowly.
Not in time.
In thought.
Too many questions.
Did she hate me?
Did she move on?
Did she-
I stopped myself.
Because that road leads nowhere useful.
And I don’t do useless.
We landed in Country Z in the evening.

I stepped in.

Busy.
Alive.
The doors opened.
Private floor.
Minimal noise.

Wide space.
Floor to ceiling windows.
City lights stretching out in every direction.
I dropped my bag near the door.
Walked straight to the window.
Stood there for a moment.
Just looking out.
Somewhere in this city-
She was there.
Working.
Living.
