Chapter 74 The Real Heiress
The jeers and sarcastic comments hit Michelle like a truck. Her face turned so red and twisted.
She wanted to dig a hole and bury herself right there.
This is so humiliating!

But she couldn’t even explain-she hadn’t knelt on purpose! Margaret had kicked her! Her legs felt numb, like they’d been broken.
“Michelle, what’s wrong with you? Why’d you kneel to her out of the blue?” Her friend gaped in confusion.
“Get up, Michelle! Everyone’s watching-this is so embarrassing!”
But Michelle couldn’t move an inch. She had no strength to stand up.
It was like an invisible force was pinning her down, heavy as a mountain. She was stuck.
“W-what did you do to me?” Michelle glared at Margaret, her eyes wild. She knew this woman was up to something!
Margaret looked at her, amused. A smile played on her lips, yet it held not a hint of warmth. “Michelle, how’s the kneeling feel? Enjoying it?
Under Margaret’s eerie gaze, Michelle’s panic spiked. “W-who are you, really?”
Margaret didn’t bother hiding. “Margaret. The poor little thing you locked in the bathroom.” Margar
She stared straight at Michelle. “Don’t you recognize me?”
“Impossible! You can’t be that ugly freak Margaret! No way!” Michelle/shrieked. “That country bumpkin probably died somewhere! You’re not her!”
She was losing her mind. That ugly girl couldn’t have turned this stunning!
“You useless brats! Hurry up and help me stand!” Michelle was furious and terrified. She’d never been so humiliated in her life.
By tomorrow, the entire Capaville elite circle would be roasting her.
And Margaret’s eyes-they made her blood run cold.
“Okay, we’re coming!” The girls nearby winced at her yelling. Privately, they thought she was totally out of line, yet no one dared to speak up. They rushed over to help her up.
“Michelle, you’re so heavy-we can’t lift you!”
“Ow! Can you be more careful?!
“I-I can’t stand! My knees are stuck to the floor like glue!”
Michelle’s voice trembled with soul-deep terror.

Her knees felt like they’d been glued to the ground. No matter how hard the girls pulled, she wouldn’t budge.
This is so freaky right now! Am I actually haunted or something?
“Are you all starving or something?! Pull harder!” Michelle had never been this pathetic. Her nerves snapped, and she burst into tears.
“It hurts! Stop yanking-you’re gonna tear my legs off!” she screamed.
The girls’ faces fell. Pull too hard, get yelled at. Pull too gently, get yelled at.
Fed up, they let go and returned to their seats. “If you think we’re useless, then get up by yourself.”
“Get back here!”
With the girls gone, Michelle kneeling alone was even more conspicuous. Every pair of eyes in the cafeteria was fixed on her-everyone was pointing and whispering.
She felt extremely embarrassed! This was public torture!
Michelle sobbed harder, convinced some ghost was messing with her. “Clara! Help me! I’m so humiliated…”
Clara wanted nothing more than to distance herself from this mess. She didn’t want to share Michelle’s shame. “Michelle, you’re the one who won’t stand up…”
“No! It’s a ghost! A ghost is doing this!” Michelle wailed, but no one believed her.
Suddenly, Clara put on a sweet, friendly smile-like she’d just noticed Margaret. “Margaret, you’re here for lunch too? Why don’t you join us? There’s an empty seat right here.”
Her words dropped a bombshell in the cafeteria.
That stunning, badass girl is actually Margaret? That country bumpkin? The laughingstock of Capaville?
Margaret used to be so plain, right? When did she get this gorgeous?
And before, Margaret had always walked with her head down, timid and insecure.
But this girl-she was confident, bold, and radiant!
The whole cafeteria was stunned.
Margaret stared at Clara’s fake gentle face, not in the mood for the “sisterly love” act.
Her tone was sharp and cold, cutting through the air.
“You’re just an adopted daughter. What makes you think you’re worthy of eating with me, the real heiress?”
A murmur went through the crowd. “Oh right! I forgot-Clara’s just adopted by the Tuckers. She’s not their
real kid…”
