“Alright,” Edward replied. “As soon as I get the documents, I’ll put together a solid proposal.”
“Take your time.” Ethan nodded.

Lucas shrugged playfully. “Afraid I’m not much help with the business side of things. But if you ever decide you want flying lessons down the line, I’m your guy.”
‘What, is recruiting a side job for you now?” Arabella teased Lucas.
Lucas grinned proudly. “Not at all. I’m only offering because he’s your brother.”
A wave of light laughter went through the group.
‘Come on, let’s head inside. Lunch is on me,” Edward invited warmly.
‘Let’s go,” Arabella agreed.
Just as they began to turn toward the building entrance, a strange, groaning noise suddenly came from above.
‘What was that?” several people wondered aloud, instinctively looking up…
‘Oh my god!”
‘Hey! Get out of the way, quick!”
‘anicked shouts erupted from the crowd around them.
‘Arabella!” Ethan lunged forward to pull her to safety.
But Arabella had already spun around, shoving Edward forcefully to the side. “Edward! Watch out!”
‘Arabella!” His hand closed on empty air. As he saw the heavy object plunging toward Arabella, Ethan’s eyes widened in horror.
‘Arabella, down!” Lucas yelled.
A loud crash followed, and then the world seemed to freeze.
The bystanders held their breath, staring with dread at the two figures now on the ground.
Ethan was the first to snap back into action, rushing over. “Arabella! Are you hurt?”
Arabella shook her head, lifting it with some effort to look at him. “I’m okay.”
“Thank god,” Ethan breathed out in immense relief. “Lucas got to you just in time. That whole pane of glass would have landed right on your head.”
Only then did Arabella realize it was Lucas who had saved her.
In that split second, she had only felt a surge of fatalistic dread before being shoved hard to the pavement, the sequence of events
a blur.

She turned toward Lucas. “How about you? Are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” Lucas said, but his voice sounded strained.
Arabella frowned. He didn’t sound fine at all.
Helping him sit up, she quickly checked him over and found the injury.

“You… call this fine!” Arabella felt a mix of worry and frustration. His shoulder was already soaked through with blood, and he was still trying to play it cool!
“Just a scrape, really. It’s not serious,” Lucas said dismissively. “The important thing is you’re okay.”
“The car’s ready. Let’s get him to the hospital,” Edward said urgently, having flagged down a vehicle and now signaling for help to get Lucas into the back seat.
Arabella stopped him. “Edward, you can’t leave. The company just opened–you need to be here. Ethan and I can handle the hospital.”
“But… he got hurt here because of us…” Edward couldn’t just walk away, especially since Lucas had been injured saving Arabella.
“It’s handled. I’ll stay with him,” Arabella insisted firmly.
Lucas added, “Really, don’t worry. It just needs to be cleaned and bandaged, that’s all.”
“Ethan, you should stay here too and help manage things,” Arabella said, giving a meaningful glance toward the shards of broken glass littering the sidewalk.
Ethan understood immediately. “Alright. I’m on it.”
Seeing that Ethan grasped her unspoken request, Arabella felt slightly more at ease and left with Lucas for the hospital.
“Edward, go attend to your business. I’ll take care of this situation here,” Ethan reminded him.
“Are you sure…?” Edward still hesitated, feeling torn.
Sensing his conflict, Ethan said, “Don’t worry about it. Your company needs you right now.”
“Alright then. And… thank you,” Edward said, his voice heavy with apology.
They had come to celebrate his opening, and not only had he been unable to host them properly, but he was also leaving them to deal with this crisis.
“Go ahead. Lucas will probably be back after a quick patch–up. We’ll all have that lunch together later,” Ethan reassured him with a steady smile.
Edward relaxed a fraction and managed a small smile in return. “Okay. Lunch is definitely on me.”
After watching Edward return to the building, Ethan’s expression turned solemn.
His gaze settled on the glittering, dangerous fragments on the ground, his eyes growing deep and thoughtful.
Arabella’s meaning was clear–she wanted him to find out if this was a mere accident or something deliberate, and she didn’t want Edward dragged into the investigation.

“Have someone look into the scene immediately…” Ethan instructed his assistant in a low voice.
“Right away, sir,” the assistant replied before swiftly moving to carry out the order.
Ethan remained at the scene, his eyes fixed thoughtfully on the shattered glass.

Arabella helped Lucas into the Emergency Department.
“What happened here?” The doctor on duty was taken aback by the blood staining Lucas‘ shirt.
“He was hit by a falling window. Could you please take a look?” Arabella explained.
“Have him sit right here,” the doctor instructed before beginning his examination.
Arabella waited quietly nearby, her focus entirely on the doctor’s movements.
“These are surface lacerations, but they still require proper cleaning and bandaging. Make sure he gets plenty of rest afterward, avoids straining that shoulder…” After listing the necessary care instructions, the doctor told a nurse, “Take him to a treatment room to get this dressed.”
“Alright,” the nurse agreed, guiding Lucas out of the exam area.
Knowing that Lucas‘ injuries were indeed not severe–no broken bones or serious damage–Arabella felt some of the tension leave her shoulders.
He had gotten hurt saving her. If it had been anything serious, the guilt would have been heavy.
After a while, Lucas emerged from the treatment room, his shoulder neatly bandaged.
“You can head home. If any issues come up–increased pain, redness, fever–come back right away for a follow–up,” the doctor advised.

I started the novel with great interest. In the beginning the storyline was captivating. Then I feel that the more the story advances, the twists were no longer great. Moreover I don't like Arabella s personality, cold, distant......
