“It’s nothing serious, just a minor injury,” Lucas replied dismissively.

“Even if it’s just a surface wound, you absolutely should not take it lightly,” the doctor advised with a tone of mild disapproval.
Arabella gave Lucas a pointed look before turning back to the doctor. “Understood.”
Then, she glanced at Lucas. “Let’s get you out of here.”
“Okay,” Lucas agreed, following Arabella out of the hospital.
Once they were in the car, Arabella said, “I’m taking you straight home. You need proper rest once you get there.”
“Don’t bother with that, I’m honestly fine. Besides, things probably aren’t wrapped up back at Edward’s yet. I can’t just bail,” Lucas protested immediately.
He’d finally gotten the chance to see her–there was no way he was leaving so soon.
‘By the time we get back, the event will be over. Besides, resting is the priority right now,” Arabella said, unconvinced.
‘Come on, I can rest after we see how everything turned out over there,” he insisted. He just didn’t want to go home; he wanted to stay and spend time with her.
Seeing how stubborn he was being, Arabella felt a wave of helplessness.
She took out her phone and dialed Edward. “Edward, how is everything on your end?”
‘All wrapped up here. How about you two?” Edward asked.
“We’re done at the hospital. I was about to take him home,” Arabella said.
Edward paused for a moment before replying, “It’s almost lunchtime. I was hoping to treat everyone to a meal. Why don’t you bring him over for lunch first, and then he can head home after?
“With everything that happened today, I feel terrible. I at least want to properly apologize,” Edward added.
Arabella considered it and then agreed. “Alright. Text me the address, and I’ll drive us straight there.”
“Okay. See you soon,” Edward replied.
Hanging up, Arabella looked at Lucas. “Lunch first. Then, you’re going home.”
“Perfect!” Lucas agreed, his mood visibly lifting.
Watching him smile so broadly, Arabella couldn’t help feeling a little exasperated. How could he be this cheerful while injured?
Soon, the two of them arrived at the designated restaurant.
Edward and Ethan were already waiting.
“Arabella, over here,” Edward called out, waving them over.

Arabella led Lucas to the table and sat down. She instinctively glanced at Ethan, who gave her a subtle nod. She understood the
unspoken message.
Casually shifting her gaze, Arabella said calmly, “Let’s eat first. After lunch, Lucas can go home and rest.”
“Are you sure you’re okay with that injury?” Edward asked, his voice full of apology. “I never expected something like this to happen. I’m so sorry you got hurt.”
“Really, it’s fine. Just a scratch,” Lucas said, his eyes drifting toward Arabella. “As long as she’s okay.”
Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly, and his tone carried a hint of formality. “Thank you for saving my sister. We will, of course, send a proper thank–you gift.”
‘That’s really not necessary. Arabella and I are friends. I couldn’t accept a gift for just helping a friend,” Lucas refused immediately.
Ethan remained firm. “You did save her. It’s only right we express our gratitude properly. I’m sure the rest of my family would insist on it as well.”
n short, he wasn’t going to let the burden of this debt rest solely on Arabella. This was a matter for the entire Hamilton family.
‘Well…” Lucas felt conflicted, torn internally.
f he accepted, it went against his true feelings. But refusing would seem like he was rejecting the goodwill of Arabella’s family. What was he supposed to do?
‘I think a token of thanks is appropriate. And since you were injured because of it, perhaps we could arrange for some at–home care assistance?” Edward suggested, chiming in.
Lucas replied awkwardly, “A gift and a caregiver really are too much. For such a small injury, making a big deal out of it would just make me feel embarrassed.”
‘In that case, we’ll forgo the caregiver. I’ll arrange for the gift to be delivered to your home,” Ethan stated decisively.
Feeling a bit deflated, Lucas knew further refusal was pointless. He looked to Arabella for support.
Arabella offered a gentle smile. “You saving me is a fact. If my brother wants to thank you, it’s best to just accept graciously.”
“Alright then,” Lucas conceded reluctantly and nodded to Ethan. “Thank you.”
“It is we who thank you. I’ll also explain what happened today to our parents when I get home,” Ethan said.
“Really?” Lucas‘ eyes instantly brightened.
Ethan nodded. “Yes.”
